Wouldn’t you think that explaining to them that everyone gets confused and feels weird at times but they are ok how they are and don’t change and they’ll grow out of it (proven to be extremely common) is better for them?

I don't think anyone is advocating for gender reassignment surgery and/or hormones before a certain age. Usually 18 for both under the law. So your outrageous theoretical situation is not even possible. I do agree with you on the second part, in terms of talking with them about what they're feeling.

Link? I'd like to learn more and what I saw was information on laws preventing it before a certain age.
ETA: Lunchbox posted some stuff. I agree that teenagers definitely go through phases as they age and would want to make sure they were certain. Are kids also having surgeries as adolescents?
