Sounds like you’d whip my arse at whatever weight
Congrats though, solid results. For what it’s worth you can do bourbon straight too if you get sick of vodka.

Out of my ignorance and possible laziness, what type of food is typical in the keto diet?
High fat and protein, very low carbs and sugars.
Bacon, deli meats, chicken, beef, pork, broccoli, cauliflower, salmon, salads (but watch the dressings) and put as much cheese as you want on everything.
The subs for sauces/dressings get a little tricky. But find some decent sugar free alternatives and it’s alright.
I did it for a month earlier this year and lost 20 lbs but it wasn’t sustainable for longer than that for me. It’s a great kick starter though cause in the beginning you’re psyched how much fatty shite you can eat and lose weight

I lost 25 pounds in a month from chemotherapy once.

Grats man. I'll bet your sugar levels are much more level without the sodas as well.

Sticking to these diets is very hard and damn near impossible. Most people do them for a little while and just fall right back into their shitty routine. You want the best diet, make healthier choices and simply eat less. I lost 20lbs since the end of January simply by not eating as much and just making better choices here and there. I am just now getting back into the gym so that should help also. Eat less and Move more

I lost a shite ton of weight in 4 months on keto...most here probably wouldn't believe the number. I would post my progress every few days on health/fitness board last year

Eh. I don’t disagree with the premise of what you’re saying but it’s not a one size fits all. Keto is absolutely sustainable for certain types of people. Somebody who doesn’t have the discipline or energy to weigh out their food and track calories is going to benefit from a diet that naturally puts you at a deficit due to how filling the food is.
It’s great that just eating better helped you but a lot of people’s intuition is really shitty. Intuitive eating only works if you truly understand what is necessary to lose weight.

Fair point. I've tried just about every diet in the book and Keto was by far the best for me but I also love beer and burgers lol. I just see it time and time again people sticking to it and within a week go back to old habits and say that the diet didn't work so eff it lol.

Congrats. FWIW, I dropped about 100lbs doing the exact opposite—eliminating all fat and basically just eating bread, pasta, etc. It was a different time (mid 1990s), but it allowed me to drop from bumping 300 to just under 200. Some of that was the metabolism of my youth for sure (early 20s at the time), but I think anything that disrupts your eating patterns can have a positive effect. Went from a 46 waist to 36/38, so that was a positive.
Piled on pounds again during law school and got back up to 250. Decided to crash diet one summer. Basically quit eating everything except dinner, coffee, and Diet Coke. Ended up down in the 180s—which apparently my body didn’t like, so I eventually settled in around 200ish. Now I’m getting back up towards 230 and was thinking the other day about trying Keto this time.
Oh, and per the poster above, I can confirm that cocaine is a helluva weight loss medication.

Just lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks!
First, congrats on the weight loss!
I went on Keto diet 1st quarter 2018. I'm 5'10" and Started at 192lbs. I got down to 163lbs in about 4 months.
Thing is I got tired of the diet last year about summer time and I like drinking beer on weekends.
So now I just eat low carb during the week and on weekends I usually eat a regular meal just don't stuff myself. Workout at gym 2-3 days a week and stay active. I haven't had a soft drink in 5 years, I do not snack, don't eat sugary sweets, or use it in coffee.
I weight between 168-171lbs now and enjoy my life a lot better! I figured the 5-7lbs I gained is the water weight I lost due to keto.
Keto helped me get to a good weight but now I can maintain by not having to be so strict...

Straight bourbon is not that bad for you.

incorporate fasting and you will lose alot more. start out 16:8 and then work way up to one mead a day and then longer and then go off it. I've gone from 225 down to 187 since mid February. also est alot of fats and limit natural flavors and sweetners
