Went in October because we ran out of ideas on where to take a relative that was visiting. Basically this event is one giant money suck with over priced food and drink. Most women their werent very attractive and will probably be cat ladies within a decade.

About 9 of us went to one of these festivals a couple of years ago on the Northshore. 5 of us got the plague (stomach flu actually). Won’t be back.

I have a friend that grew up as child of a Renaissance Fair “carnie.”
Traveled around staying in different towns and with people doing them all over the place. Spent numerous months in a bus fitted for living or a tent. Considered himself homeless for most of his youth.
Turned out a great guy but definitely realizes the weirdness for what it was.

The renfest in Hammond is a lot of fun if the weather is good. It’s in a nice wooded area set up and it isn’t that expensive. Not a thing in the world wrong with letting your freak flag fly.
