Damn. Almost as big as the Northridge quake 25 years ago. That was a 6.7 and devastated the San Fernando Valley. This one was in much more rural Kern County but just goes to show, a little bit closer and it could have been devastating.

Don’t get discouraged, a bigger one could still be on the way.

Dammit, really hadn't thought it about like that. Excuse me while I step away and let my friends and family know that I'm ok.

Fitting that it would happen in California in the 4th of July.

Damn I used to drill laterals out there.

That’s horrible. How will they ever rebuild?

Itll be awhile before they can get all the prerequisite permits to pick that fallen sign up. Theres a lot of paperwork involved in that state.

I really was taking a piss all the way down at Chiriaco Summit and as I was standing there the building was swaying slightly.

Then, I came out of the bathroom and asked if my wife had felt it and she hadn’t. I thought maybe it was my imagination though I was pretty damn sure the whole room was swaying.

And turns out I was right. 3 hours and 50 mins south of Ridgecrest / 221 miles away and still felt it.

I didn’t feel anything in Madisonville. No damage reported in St. Tammany that I’m aware of.
