so the owner has decided that we will not do work in Orleans Parish anymore until the crime is under control.
I'm not going to say that he shouldn't hold his breath.
(But he shouldn't hold his breath.)

I don’t believe you because of the statement A contractor called me back.
Haha I’ve been on their wait list just to check out the check since about 2 weeks after the storm

Back in the earlier 2k timeframe I worked for a cell company and there was certain cell towers that or crews would not go to without police support at night. During the day they had to go in pairs so someone could be the lookout and watch the trucks.
During Katrina recovery they hire a security company to escort all staff working in NOLA.
I guess it's back to that level again.

I stopped taking jobs in the east I'm glad I have no excuse to go out that way.

But this NO=Mogadishu narrative is getting way overblown on this site.
No, it’s not. If that’s your opinion, you’re part of the problem.

including one guy who was up on a roof and some thugs took his ladder, and proceeded to break into his truck.
That is a variation of the Bubbles and Johnny ladder con from The Wire.
Their con left the victim unaware he was indeed victimized and only thought it was an attempted crime. Bubbles is smarter than NOLA criminals.

I have a relatively small (licensed and insured) roofing and remodeling company. We’re willing to work in the East and just about anywhere in Orleans Parish. The East isn’t where we have had problems, it’s been more so uptown and in gentilly.
Email is ctb504@gmail.com
While one of our crews was on a roof in one of the ‘nice’ areas, uptown, their truck was stolen from right in front of the house. They found it abandoned later that day with about $5k worth of tools missing.
Happy to help anyone in the ‘war zone’.
