Just had a faux pas at one of those double-car McDonald's drive throughs

Just had a startling incident going through one of those double-line McDonald's drive throughs. I ordered my food on the outside lane, and, when pulling around, quite inadvertently cut in front of a gentlewoman who was in the inside lane. By the time I realized what I had done, it was too late. There was already someone behind me, so I couldn't back up. She rolled down her window and let loose quite a rude string of expletives at my expense. Indeed, once I got to the window to pay, she started accosting the McDonald's employee who was taking my payment, insisting that I was in fact taking her food. It was quite embarrassing for all involved. In fact, I had ordered a small water and, lo and behold, I received sprite instead - no doubt intended for the enraged diner in the car behind me.

Please folks, observe drive-through etiquette so you don't end up in a similar situation, on the losing end of an exchange with the hoi polloi.

I don’t have any epic tales from visits to McDonald’s.

This is no biggie. But I’m amazed more orders don’t get screwed up with these double drive through lanes

Inside lane is always faster due to geometry and the added benefit of less miles on your car

Outside lane you can maintain a faster speed, and we all now know, faster speed = more mpg.

Who the frick goes to McDonald's on a Sunday? I kind of get it when busy during the week, but it's Sunday, you have not much else going on. I guess some people just enjoy flash fried frozen food.

When my driver started to experience similar problems, my secretary phoned ahead and got him and his family reservations at Dorsia.

It probably depends on the weight of the poster who is in the drive-thru at McDonald’s.
