It was sad. You could tell it really irked the professor.

ET went through this at least once as well

So Vietnamese students entering LSU will be forced to take an African American Studies course?

This is fricking ridiculous.

forcing curriculum on anyone is ridiculous.

the courses are there for your choosing. why should anyone be forced to take something unless they want to take it. I didn't want to take french so i didn't. i wanted to take spanish as my foreign language so i did.

Great, a bunch of guys who needs the academic center for athletes to read all their course material to them are trying to change what is a school core requirement.

if athletes are as dumb as you think, most other students should ace this and it shouldn’t be an issue

So should this be required of every minority group in the US? Asian American; Hispanic American; Native American? Why limit it to only studying one group?
No. Asians, Hispanics, and Native Americans just have to learn about how "African Americans" are the only minority group discriminated against.

Can you picture a registered NA, straight off the reservation, great-great grandparents forced down the Trail of Tears, being mandated to sit through this class

You think people are complaining because it may be difficult?

I have had conversations with ladies and gentlemen with post-grad degrees in AAS.

Difficulty is not a concern. Academic rigor of the course and discipline is way more concerning.

It's amazing there are only two races apparently

Black and not black

I wish that's really what they believed. Instead, they believe in "People of Color" and "Whitey," with the moral high ground held inescapably by the first.

I watched something on him awhile back and I know he was one of the best in the country, at what he did.. Which would be better to get credit for than inventing peanut butter..

that’s not a concern to most students who are just taking the minimum requirement and majoring in something else

And it probably won’t be required for current students anyhow

I have an additional proposal.

The College of Engineering should put forth a requirement that all "student athletes" take a Fundamentals of Calculus course to gain a better understanding of what a real curriculum is all about.

Our struggle is real. Or imaginary, depending on what number set you're using.

It shouldn’t be required for anyone. That’s the point.

They love to push their faux “diversity”, but where’s the diversity in indoctrinating everyone? Doesn’t sound very diverse.

Remember. College classes cost money. So you’re extorting money by requiring students to take a useless class that has no bearing on their professional or career development

What you will never see—-a call for equality in admission standards for athletes and non athletes. If there is such a movement they will simply lower all the standards.

The athletic department uses NCAA standards which are incredibly low. I am told a kid with a 3.5 high school GPA on a single report card only has to make the minimum on the ACT. Do you think there are high schools that might fudge the GPAs of a kid that runs a 4.4 40??

Bunch of spoiled privileged arse holes
