my dad sent me soap on a rope in boot LOL. said his dad did it to him back int he day, so he was passing it along like a tradition.

Not yet. He's probably still in Receiving, bored out of his mind and thinking that this boot camp shite isn't so bad.

Well, you are entitled to your view. And my son is training to defend your right to express it when and how you choose.
Neither I nor my son is naive. We both understand that military forces have been used in forays of folly or in political power plays. That isn’t the point for him or for me.

Receiving was the worst part for me. I hated all the waiting and trying not to fall asleep. Such a fricking long drawn out process.

What is the point, then? I joined because I didn't know what to do with my life. People praised me for something I did because I was lost, and it felt really strange. Why is he joining?

Congratulations to you! Check out Parris Island Photography on Facebook. I spotted my recruit several times throughout boot camp. He graduated from PI in October 2018, went to MOS school at Lejeune and is permanently station at Camp Pendleton. He’s deployed on one MEU already and scheduled for another 2-3. He’s loving it. Send lots of letters in boot, but don’t send anything else.

As a prior Marine I can tell you for the next month everytime he ever talked back, forgot to shut the door behind him, slacked on his chores etc...
Judgement day has arrived lol. May you blissfully enjoy the thoughts of doing to him everything the law and your wife wouldnt let you do short of physical abuse.

My godson is still on the Rock. He'll be coming home next year. He made Corporal this last year. I think he'll be getting out though. Other than MCRD and his schools he's been out of the country enjoying the beauty of Okinawa Japan.
