5,000 miles is an appropriate interval for modern engines. I wouldn’t push my luck with 7500 or 10,000 miles.
That's what I run my engines to. 5000 for the ecoboost because of the turbo. 7000 on the ones with no turbo. 5-w30 synthetic AMSOIL in all. Makes it simple they all use the same weight oil.

I take care of 4 cars and the youngest is 19 years old. I’ve never needed to use anything but hand tools except once: removing a pinion yoke nut

I have a Honda hybrid. I get the full synthetic. I pay about $120 per oil change. I get my oil changed about once every 10 months to 1 year.

If a guy doesn’t change his own oil, he better be rich, old, retarded, or a cripple.

Nice. I hear good things about AMSOIL but I’ve never used it.
Both of mine require 0w-20. If anything, I’ll switch it to 0w-30, 0w-40, or 5w-30 as they age. Both are the same engine family (L84 5.3L GMC), but one just crossed 100,000 miles and the other has less than 12,000 miles.
Likely switching to 0w-40 for next oil change in the older one (will be 105,000 miles). I like the idea of lubrication being pushed into all corners of the engine that need it quickly on startup, so the 0w and 5w are what I go for. But as the engines age I want the higher weight to avoid blow by issues and oil burn. I also think the heavier weight may help with aging bearings and cam lobes. Not sure about those valve lifters though. They probably needs lower weight oil when hot.
Some new Toyotas take 0w-16. That’s weird to me. I don’t recall ever seeing that weight in Autozone or OReilly but I’ve never really looked for it.

I go about 4500-5000 between oil changes and use a synthetic blend. My Tundra is nearing 350k.

It's a damn good oil. My 1st generation 3.5 Eco has the original cam phasers in it and the original timing set. Not a threaded thing has been turned on it except for the spark plugs, oil filter, and oil plug. No noise whatsoever at startup with the old stuff. 161k miles.
There is a new (I guess new) oil called "Driven" that is damn good too. Royal purple is no slouch either.

I drive a paid off beat up Honda that my wife drove before we upgraded her. It’s 10 years old and we’ve changed the oil every 8k miles or so, synthetic each time. The ONLY thing we’ve ever had trouble with that car with is that currently the engine gasket is wearing down so there’s some oil all over the engine. Been checking the levels and so far so good, but eventually I’m gonna need to get that replaced. I’ll probably replace it and drive it another 2 or 3 years, too. It has less than 80,000 miles lol.

They have it at Walmarts. I’m sure, AZ and O’ has it also.

After buying a used motor I went to whatever legit oil place was around. If they mess up, it's on them to fix their mess.
have you met some of the retards that work at these "Jiffy lube" type places? I'd pass.

10k miles is nothing for engine oil to last.
Try that in a Kia.
Ask me and my daughter how I know.

Agreed.
If you want to keep your car long term most folks are recommending 5k intervals as a happy medium.
While some people report no problems, there are many documented cases of early wear and failure on modern engines with 10k intervals.
Oil is cheap compared to the engine.
My $0.02
My previous vehicle I would religiously change oil at 3k miles.
That piece of shite crapped out on me before I hit 40k miles.
Current vehicle I change it at 10k. No problems.

We had a Volvo with a 2.0L turbo engine that also had a super charger. They recommended 10,000 mile oil changes and I thought that was crazy even though we never used it for towing.
A good friend, she had a I’m almost sure it’s a XC60. It started burning oil with a little over 65k miles. Brought it in, they said that was normal. They do show in 2022, they have motor problems. The husband did say they brought it into the dealership for all service.

Change my own oil. Easy process, simple, and learn things about your vehicle.
---I used to do that too, but once---and once was all it took--I mis-threaded the plug. Lost the oil and the motor.
The day I feel my mechanical skills have dropped below that of the average lube tech is the day I commit seppuku with a roll punch.

My grandpa used to pour it on his wooden barbed wire fenceposts. He's been dead since the 80's and some of those posts are still standing.

Just got an oil change at pep boys. They come out and show me my dirty cabin filter and ask if I want it changed when I just changed it 7 months ago. No way it was actually that dirty. I declined.
