What do I need to download? I got the Nexus 5.

The default SMS messenger is google hangouts. What is the best text messenger app to replace this?

This is great if you wanted to give a 3rd party your apple login credentials and then have your messages routed through servers in China.

Textra is a good messaging app.

The default SMS app is fine(not hangouts). If not, you can use GoSMS, Handcent, etc

I wound up going back to the original text app. When I used handcent I kept having problems with group texting. Once I uninstalled handcent everything worked fine.

Hangouts is great but if you don't like it use the default and install airdroid.

Probably Textra. Keep an eye out for HelloSMS though. It has a cool side tab view.

Also go read XDA forums for the 5. LINK

Agree. Liked Hello but it's a little quirky. Went back to Textra.
