Baw when I was a youngin we were at Sunday School at 9 AM on Sunday morning, followed by the Worship service at 11. If you were lucky you got home in time to catch the second half of the football game. Then back at church at 6 for the Sunday night service. And prayer meeting on Wednesday night. Plus throw in choir practice, youth group, etc, somewhere in there.

Just back from a 3.5 one but it had a ton of baptisms and confirmations and the readings were in English and Spanish

Just got home. 7 readings. 12 baptisms. 13 RCIAs.
3 hours 15 minutes. My kids were not happy with me.

Damn that's a ton. But that's good that we still have people seeing the light, accepting Jesus and coming into the One True Church .
We did 5 readings. (4 Old Testament and the Epistle).

And then probably went to fellowship for an hour or two with the congregation for coffee, donuts, and conversation in a beautiful church. I was raised Episcopalian, it's usually like going to a nice hotel after a service filled not with fire and brimstone, but goodwill and positivitiy.

I respect men that attend mass. I do not respect men that need validation and praise for attending mass.

If you like the Easter Vigil, don't miss the long-form Pentecost Vigil if you can find it.

one year on Easter Sunday his family went to church and the priest walked to the pulpit and said something to the effect of “In today’s world with so many points of view, one thing we can all agree on is He is Risen. Happy Easter, everybody…….then dismissed the service.

If you've been keeping up with the evolution (devolution) of Episcopalians, this is actually very on brand.

A good friend of mine who’s Episcopalian, told us one year on Easter Sunday his family went to church and the priest walked to the pulpit and said something to the effect of “In today’s world with so many points of view, one thing we can all agree on is He is Risen. Happy Easter, everybody…….then dismissed the service. After all the work getting up early, dressing up, finding someplace to park at a packed church, they were there for a total of about 15 minutes….
God, bless that priest.

People like you are a big reason people don't believe in the church.

I wouldn’t have guessed that sitting through a long mass would be difficult for you.

I was with a few people and we were going somewhere after mass, but when the priest said this at the beginning of mass we all looked at each other like "you got to be fricking kidding me". We agreed we would split when that part started (which was about 45 mins into mass)
It’s amazing how some people (you included) have a knack for saying or doing exactly the wrong thing at exactly the worst possible time.
Oh and Happy Easter (if you haven’t already left this thread early).

The longest one I've ever attended was 3.5 hrs.
That was us last night. Father had the spirit and warned us beforehand he was going to do all 9 of the readings.
