After a week it got a little better but took several weeks to be normal again.

Having it right now is not the same as original covid. I just got over it and mine wasn't gone, but it was messed up. I tested myself on garlic and it smelled rancid while my senses were off. Sweet things had almost no taste or smell at all.

But with this version, it came back pretty quickly for me. Like it started to get better after the five day mark and was completely back by 10 for sure, maybe a little sooner. Unscientific sample of friends say the same. As the congestion cleared the senses returned.

Like 6 months for me. Then it was only partially. Took about a year until I felt like they were back to about 95% normal.

I don't know anyone who had covid that lost taste/smell. Is that still a common side effect of the current strands?

I had about 4 to 5 days (after recovery) of really weird smells and tastes.
Struck matches smelled like fireworks.
Beers tasted like unsweetened coca-cola.

My advice is don’t let the silver lining go unappreciated: Bathroom breaks didn’t smell at all for me.

Smell/taste for me took 13 months. Boiled crawfish finally shocked my senses back to normal.

It’s also been almost three years and the nasty cigarette butt smell still pops up now and then. Abhor that smell.

I had it a few weeks ago. No lost of taste no cough. Just ache and fever. Felt
Bad enough to take a test one night. Made myself get up and just walk around outside and every time I did I felt better.

The only symptom I had was a runny nose for a day. It was weak as shite.

Possibly. There are also people who have long covid (from when they got hit with prior variants) who may have other symptoms on top of this one.

Why? A test isn’t going to make you feel better.

Are you vaxxed, boasted? I had the China virus last August and couldn’t taste or smell for about a week. Wasn’t vaxxed and still not.

No one is whining a-hole except you. I was simply asking a question. If you don’t have anything to contribute or aren’t interested then move along. That simple.

this current strain is contagious as frick. My whole family is getting over it. Inlaws went to Universal, came back on the 3rd, we did July 4th at their place, and every single one of us there on the 4th (about 30 of us) got it.
