For those of you that have had it, how long (on average) did it take to get it back?

About 10 days. But it varies. You won’t be able to predict it

Smell didn’t come back for two months. Taste was weakened but neither have come back like before. And that was in December of 2020.

Hey Covidbro!! I’m in the same exact spot. Just lost taste and smell yesterday. This is the worst part of the whole experience. Well other than the fever the first day.

Both mostly returned in about a week.

Many things smelled/tasted different though and that took 9 months to get over. Sour cream and onion chips were removed from the grocery list.

Took almost 2 years for smell to completely return.

Took me about 3-4 months to get it back fully.

It was miserable because I love to cook and sip bourbon.

ETA. It isn’t the same though. Some smells are still off after a year and half.

Have fun with the metallic taste as it comes back.

Tasted like I was eating an aluminum can.

about 5-7 days for both.

But when my taste came back I was apopletic because I had bacon and I thought it was outrageously bad because it was way too salty.

I got smell and taste back pretty quick but it was probably another 5 days for my taste to recalibrate to normal. For some reason I was hypersensitive to salt initially.

About 2 months. Nothing worked to get it back so don’t fall for any bullshite remedies.

(This advice is from a guy that fell for every bullshite remedy)

To come back...about a week.

I will echo others, neither my taste or smell have returned 100% though. Been about three months.

My boss was going on 2 years of no smell/taste and was referred to Dr. Ashley Prince out of The Woodlands.

After the first session, he walked into a sub shop and broke down crying when he smelled the bread baking. Sounds like witchcraft but there are several news articles written about her techniques. Might be worth giving it a shot

About a week.

Smell candles and try different foods (spicy, sweet, sour) to help retrain them.

Sister and her family all got it a couple of weeks ago - usually comes back within 10-15 days. Her daughter is back to normal whereas sis/bro in law are still struggling.

I got it back after about 2 weeks, but I am still not 100% and don't know if I'll ever be (been 1 year since I had Covid). Food is a lot more bland now than it was before. I use a ton more hot sauce, more salt, more vinegar, etc.
