congrats, mine went through a similar program. I really don't know it makes much difference in the long run, but certainly doesn't hurt.
at teenage time frame they get bored with regular classes and can get into trouble in boredom

I wish they had the program to 12th grade. I was proud as mine scored off the charts in math and science. i told them with this gift they better be doctors or something in the field. they took my advice.

Mingo, of all people, unintentionally intentionally making a racist joke is my second favorite part of this thread.

Fair point.

But seriously, some of the people on here(not you) just live to be miserable. I take the people who made snide comments probably have wives who are either fat as frick or they are fatties themselves and have to project their low self esteem on others.

IDK how her birth mother is at math but mommy is very good at math. She seemed to have picked that up.

I don't know why OP is surprised and mad. How else would this thread go. You can't survive here if you can't give and take shots and roll with the punches.

It is why we can't have nice things.
and the racist comment was as my teacher used to say, uncalled for.

I don’t think we have a gifted program at our elementary school.

That was Mingo going hard with the racism.

I overheard my 13 year old son debating my 15 year old nephew on whether or not cereal is a soup. These are the kids that build things.

Assuming you’re in GA, this means she’s actually a gifted student. Public schools there are actually worth something.

Saying this in Louisiana is like saying your kid won gold at the special olympics.

Hopefully it's just basic stuff. They can be overloaded at a young age. Fair concern.

They had this program back 35 years ago when my sister and I were in elementary school.

Thanks for the response.

the system-wide elementary gifted program. She will go to a seperate building once a week w/other 1st graders from across the county and take gifted classes. She got tested at her school back in the spring and we got the letter in the mail this evening.

Proud dad right here. My eyes are welling w/pride as I type this. Couldn't be happier.
