we kind of expected ours. It was more of a "well damn, there it is" instead of a "Why the hell would they do mirror images of the same baby? Oh that's another baby? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMITTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!"

My wife was shocked. I kind of thought we may see this after seeing the change between the two HCg tests last week. I immediately wondered if there were two in there when at 5 weeks the doubling period was all of 24 hours.

2 of my cousins have twins (one set identical girls, other set boy/girl). Another cousin got his gf pregnant with twins (but only 1 made it to term). All in my mom's side of the family. All without the help of fertility treatments. So I know the odds of twins for me are higher than many, esp if I do fertility treatments.

Any healthy pregnancy would be a blessing but I really hope I'm not the 4th cousin to have twins

one huge positive for twins is that they will always have someone to play with

my sister has twins girls the same age as my girl and

now that they are at the age where they play, they will go to their room and play together for hours, while my girl always wants to be wherever we are, and by that I mean she wants to be right underneath me

Wife and I will be 42 years old later this year and we are expecting twins in October. We have a 20 year old son and 10 year old daughter to boot. Can you beat that?

Yes. But not by much. I was 44 when my surprise twin boys were born and my daughter was 16. Wife and I tried for years to have another but was unsuccessful. Dr told us that it wouldn't happen without IVF and we decided we were getting too old and didn't want to take a chance spending that much money and still be disappointed if it didn't work so we gave up on the idea. Within a year she got pregnant with the twins! They are 14 now and taller than their mom and have been such a joy to our family! My daughter is now 30 and just found out she is pregnant with her first! I'm not ready to be a grandfather!

Best advice I can give you is to focus on practicality above all else.

There is a ton of money in the business of newborn/toddler gear and accessories, and the good news is that twins will help eradicate you of all the unnecessary items that people buy up with a single kid.

I'd recommend finding a Facebook group or people in your group of family/friends who have experience with multiples for additional advice. It is an incredible experience but it can be overwhelming at times. Cutting through all of the frills and getting down to "needs" instead of "wants" was the most important thing for me and my wife.

Also, some advice from a colleague of mine with twins: do everything at the same time. If one is hungry and the other isn't, tough shite, they're babies. If one is tired but the other isn't, tough shite, they're babies. You get the idea.

He said you'll quickly learn that keeping your sanity trumps being this ideal parent that you hold out in your head.

Also, sleep when they sleep. You'll need it.

My wife and I struggled with infertility for 3 years. Then, we stacked the deck with Trailer Trash Twins, 11 months apart. Now, they're 10 and 11 and people think the younger one is the older one and vice versa. We pretty much raised them as twins. It's actually good to get it over with. I would rather have them close together than drag it out.

have twin 10 month olds. You won't notice the difference in having one or twins. That's all you know if these are your first. You will just look down on the people with single babies who complain

As for diapers and wipes, we use the Amazon subscribe and save. We get two of the biggest boxes of Huggies they offer each month with 6 packs of Amazon brand wipes. Their wipes are the best we've found.

We had the exact same scenario. Relax. If these are your first children, you have no frame of reference so it won't be harder. It will just be normal. My advice:

keep them on a strict feeding schedule or you will never sleep

Relax. You won't break them. Look around at some people who have kids. You can't be as bad as some of them.

Enjoy the shite out of them. My kids are the best thing that ever happened to me and they make me a better man.

Congrats.
