I am (was) planning to give my daughter her car (put in her name), and let her pay her own insurance.

I’m with State Farm. I got a quote from them, it would cost her around $150 a month (liability/uninsured/roadside).

So I figured I’d call a couple other “cheap” places, get a quote, thinking State Farm is a little high. She has no assets, so she just needs state minimum.
GoAuto (douche bag Greg) quoted me $310 a month, just liability.

USAngencies quoted me $505 a month, just liability.

Any suggestions on a good company to call?

I guess I could try USAA. Do I need to be with them for her to be with them?

Depends, was she in the military?

No, I’m a vet, but I’m not with them.

As long as you’re a member of USAA your entire family has access to USAA

Maybe Geico. Although I’m about to call around myself because they jacked my insurance up 40 a month, no tickets, no wrecks. Also maybe Farm Bureau.

I’m assuming your daughter must be around 16-17? If that’s the case, insurance companies ream you for underage drivers.
I remember when my parents added me when I was 17 and my dad bitching about how much it costs.

Call the legislature. They promised if you gave up your legal rights you would get cheap car insurance.

They have a tier system going. Retirees, especially field grade officers and above, get treated like royalty. Family members who aren't military themselves are a little lower on the totem pole as far as service.

American National. Cost a little more, but the service and response is phenomenal. You get what you pay for

Looks like State Farm is a pretty good deal for your daughter.

Progressive has always been fairly ok with young drivers in my experience.

That's cheap as shite. My son won't be 15 til October, but I had Geico price our current policy with him added.....about $400 extra per month.
