My shite has been running all day just to keep the house at 76. It'll begin cycling normally from 10pm to around 9am. Taking a pre-emptive strike and having the A/C guy come here Tuesday before something major fricks up.

Go kick the AC with your fricked up ankle and see if it fixes either if them. Worth a shot

Mini splits are the only way to go. They allow for zone/regional cooling which is much cheaper. Plus they are seperate units so you don't have to worry about them breaking all at once so atleast part of your house would be cool. I will never buy or build a house with central ac after living in a house with minisplits.
