Prayers for you brother; seriously.
Your good boy is up there with my baby girl (boxer/german shepard mix) of 11 years that I lost suddenly; the day before our little ones’ first birthday. It’ll be one year ago in August.
I can tell you it gets a little easier, but I won’t sit here and lie and say Mrs. Cotten and I don’t cry on a weekly basis thinking of her, including literally last night. I still have VIVID dreams where I 100% honestly can feel myself playing with her ears like she used to like; it’s heartbreaking and welcoming at the same time.

14 years, good times. Be thankful for 14.

He didn’t say it was “worse”, at least not in the part you quoted- he said “there’s no pain like it”.. and i agree, losing a dog is a unique type of pain , not comparable really to losing a human .

We dont deserve dogs.

This is actually a good place to come discuss the loss of a dog.

It’s tough. Happened to me two years ago.
Only thing that heals it is time.
You’ll think about him every hour, then every few hours, then every day, then every week and month.
It gets easier. Focus on the hope of that.

When my dog died, I found this quote on the internet. It provided me with a lot of comfort in the days following her passing...
"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.” - Suzanne Clothier

great guy/girl but an Alabama fan
slutty single moms v. slutty ex-wives
future LSU baseball player but now plays travel ball

Sorry for your loss. It's always tough to lose a companion like that.

Honestly this is the best thing people can do for their furry children. Seeing the people they loved most before they shut their eyes for the last time brings them comfort as they cross the rainbow bridge
Sorry for your lost

Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm going to lose my a-hole Chihuahua one day and I know I'll miss him too.

Like somebody said, a dog is your best friend for as long as they are alive but you are your dogs best friend for it's entire life.

Of all death I've experienced in my life, my black lab dying in my arms in 2018 was the hardest I have ever cried.
Heard the coolest/saddest thing recently about dogs: the only time they ever break our hearts is when the leave us...

I think one of the reasons losing a dog is different than losing a human, is that for a lot of us, our dog is there ALL THE TIME.. unlike ur grandmother who maybe you saw a couple times a month, or even a parent .. most good dogs even follow their people into the bathroom for chrissakes, I don’t know many other family members who do that, thankfully.. that’s one reason losing a dog is so unique and hard .

Sorry for your loss. Praying for him as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. What was your fur-baby's name?
As a previous poster stated
