I'm sure NOLA is lying too
If they arrested and charged him after going over his statement....

Then Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand vehemently defended the department’s handling of the investigation, noting that detectives took their time to lock in Ronald Gasser’s statement and find more witnesses.

Defendant felt a real or perceived threat. His proof is the fact that McKnight got out of his car and he didn't.

Having driven through that intersection 1000 times, I would have to assume joe was following gasser. No way to have your car parked there unless you were going after him. Iirc, gasser was then boxed in.
Turning lane is well before that

The only fact is that McKnight left his car. If it was determined gasser felt a threat, it wouldn't be at trial.

I'm talking about all the way down to that spot. Sheriff said that per gasser and witnesses, both of them were swerving and cutting each other off the whole way. The end result if mcknight being stopped where he was doesn't mean anything about the previous length of road.

Damn the next redlight is my hood.
I use to get gas at the Shell station on the right going back home to Tyler, TX.
I totally forgot this happened right there!
Those townhouses in the background are ghetto af.

Oh I agree.
The end point of the 'chase' was Joe following him. And what looks to be Joe boxing him in at the intersection.
So both are heated and this guy has you pinned in traffic after a long chase. The bridge to that intersection is not close at all. Just the idea of how far these two idiots chased each other is retarded because they probably put 200 peoples lives in danger.
So you're in your car with nowhere to go and a guy gets out who isn't necessarily small comes at your car. Tough situation there
And that little area I'm not shocked they had witnesses to the shooting

I always thought they had to cross the threshold of the car. Personally I wouldn't shoot until he/she broke the glass.

Yep spot on. The fact that gasser stayed, admitted he was the shooter, and handed in his gun makes me believe it was self defense, but we will see. They admitted the 2006 case so they'll he trying to paint him as a hot head.

Are you literally arguing because this case went to trial, he must be guilty?

This has nothing to do with it man. Stop quoting it. If he goes to jail it's because they determined he shot a man who wasn't presenting a threat, not because the court applied a law completely opposite of the way it was written.

No, I'm saying if they determined it was a cut and dry self defense case, they wouldn't have brought charges.
It's not cut and dry hence the trial.

For it to be self defense it has to be something a ‘reasonable person’ would do. Would a reasonable person get themselves caught up in a road rage incident that goes on for miles? he’ll get manslaughter imo.

quote:he is quoting it because of the people coming in here saying "all gasser had to do was drive away". That thought is not a possibility by law.
