Have so many of yall never worked in a setting where the IT guy has irreversibly turned himself into the most despised person in the building?

Not saying that’s what happened here, but is is certainly a possibility.

He’s a judge, on video, presumably in front of a courtroom full of people. He’s expected to act like a professional, not a petulant child. No matter how moronic the IT might hypothetically be, an eyebrow raise and a “thank you, that will be all” would be more than sufficient for the moment.

And his little outburst of not putting up with bullshite this morning tells us most of what we need to know.

Surely another case where all we need to see is a 20-second video to form a virtual lynch mob...

You don't have enough information to make any of these judgements. Could be the problem happened many times before and the IT people never solve it beyond "it's working now." I can think of an infinite number of other things.

Seriously, how many fricking times do we have to see a tiny video that gives a completely false impression once we learn more later on before we learn to stop doing this shite???? Time does not actually begin when someone presses RECORD.

If there wasn't a mountain of evidence coming out that this judge is constantly an emotional dick, I'd probably agree with you. By all accounts it seems like this is an ongoing thing with him. He made it worse by trying to discipline some lawyer (who wasn't even involved) when he suggested he should apologize to the IT guy. All the judge had to do was laugh it off, say "well I swear it was happening a second ago, it must've known you were coming," and the situation ends with IT resolving the ticket. Instead he had to be a crybaby and now his dirty laundry is getting aired out.

Funny enough I was in one yesterday with an IT problem and it was a literal 180 from this one.

Not only respect but appreciation from the judge.

As an IT guy there is nothing worse than getting called to a conference room to deal with audio/video shite with a bunch of people already in there. Presenter is already pissed, while the rest of the people in there want to tell you how to fix it despite the fact that they all messed it up even worse before you got called.

But also as an IT guy you walk in the courtroom, acknowledge then fix the issue, say yes sir, then shut the frick up and get out before the judge freaks out. It doesn't matter that you didn't fix anything, it matters that he thinks you fixed something and it wasn't his fault.

Judge is still a dick.

This.

I can't tell you how many times I've been called to someone's office or a conference room for an issue that is non-existent by the time I get there or something the user has done. Most people are very understanding when it's an issue that disappears when IT shows up, keeping their frustrations directed to the device rather than the person who has shown up to fix it.

The tech's comment of "false alarm" was the wrong thing to say, it implies the user was imagining things and this judge seems to have a self-esteem issue which that set off. I probably just would have said something along the lines of "Okay, it's working now but I didn't do anything, so let us know as soon as possible if it happens again. Also, let us know when court is over for the day so we can take a longer look without having to disrupt your day any more."

Still, the judge was unnecessarily dickish.

I understand Morgus's position, and it's a bad habit we have online, GENERALLY, but in this SPECIFIC situation, there is a lot of evidence other than this single video about the judge.

The post-Covid era of TX courts being online has led to a cottage industry online of aggregating court content and a handful of TX judges have gotten internet famous.
