That would be extremely unstunning news.

Maybe a little, but not anywhere near as much as you and others ITT. These days I mostly post about golf and stuff that makes me laugh.

It doesn't take me that long anymore to realize how much of a waste a particular topic is. Many times it takes less than 1 post about a topic.

As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

Those early days in mid march 2020 are fun to revisit. So many people here supported the lockdowns because of Italy. They ignored Italy's Asian population... age of local population... lack of infrastructure... and were ready to scream at anyone who said it couldn't happen here. They ignored and even berated those who warned of the slippery slope of a lockdown with no rules, stipulations, plans. And now here we are.

I absolutely have the data, and anyone willing to take 2 minutes to digest information can find it as well

Its very easy to post the clotting rate in the general population of 0.1 %, and the rate in J&J recipients of .000088%

Sure, one crafty, selfish person can wait, while almost everyone else gets vaccinated. They would fix the pandemic problem, and he could parasitically surf behind them. There are many similar examples whereby a selfish person can game the system. In WWII a young man could fake a limp and get declared medically unfit to fight. Nazism would be defeated by his less selfish contemporaries. Many of them would die or suffer injuries, while he got full benefit without taking any risk. Like you, an admirable dude!

Imagine comparing getting a vaccine for a virus with a 99.99% survival rate with volunteering to go overseas to fight in WWII. Dude, I'm no antivaxxer and will be getting vaccinated myself, but gtfo with that crap.

You're so brave.

Your reasons for people not getting it are anti-vax and lazy.

Can we assume you're vaccinated then?

Nope. I'm in the lazy party. I drove around with my tire light on for over a month this year. I hate errands.

Not anti-vax or anything weird like that. Just haven't felt it necessary for me at this time. When I'm ready to fly, assuming it will eventually be required, I'll reassess.

Hmmm

That's about the rate for venous thromboembolism. That's the wrong disease, bub.

Apparently, news is coming out that the FDA isn't saying the vaccine causes these clots and that they just want to update clinicians on treatment procedures because you shouldn't use standard clot treatment procedures after vaccination.

So basically, the vaccine is fine, the bureaucratic FDA fricked up the press release/messaging?

Now this feels over the target, one of the worst alphabet agencies making routine careless monumental mistakes that could cause distrust in the entire vaccine rollout bc they don't know how to proof a press release.

Yep, I'm willing to bet the house on it.

People are blaming the FDA, blame humans for not reading

The FDA point blank said this in their release
quote:

"In these cases, a type of blood clot called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) was seen in combination with low levels of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia)," the statement read. "Treatment of this specific type of blood clot is different from the treatment that might typically be administered. Usually, an anticoagulant drug called heparin is used to treat blood clots. In this setting, administration of heparin may be dangerous, and alternative treatments need to be given.

FDA leadership stressed that this pause will help healthcare professionals have time to understand possible symptoms of blood clotting.

"While these events are very rare, we're recommending a pause in the use of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine in order to prepare the healthcare system to recognize and treat patients appropriately, and to report severe events they may be seeing in people who receive the J&J vaccine," Schuchat said.

Yes 0.1% is DVT, what is commonly know as simple "blood clot"

The rate of specific CVST clotting is .00123%

Not sure how that changed anything, as the rate in the vaccine population is still less than that

True, and then they go and post fear porn headlines without even mentioning this part of the release.

So, the media is to blame them, par for the course.

This is a bit on the ridiculous side. I don't blame you, I blame your boyfriend/husband/spouse for that. He allowed you to drive around like that on a half flat tire?

That's interesting. Did they publish that first or this a follow-up release? Did someone leak the "news" of the pause/media ran with it without the context before either?

Went through this Saturday. Take it easy and drink plenty of fluids/electrolytes. You'll feel fine tomorrow.

Same here. Arm not as sore this time, just lethargic as hell. I slept a full 8 hours last night (which is rare for me).
