Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go

Yeah he was. I think John had really great relationships with younger musicians.

Saw Isbell open for Prine a few years ago. I think this was right around when Isbell was blowing up.

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon,
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair.
Well, he played his last request,
While the room smelled just like death,
With an overdose hovering in the air.
But life had lost it's fun,
There was nothing to be done,
But trade his house that he bought on the GI bill,
For a flag-draped casket on a local hero's hill.

Yep. Me too.
Prine was one of the first big names Isbell performed with.

Damn. This one hurts. I’ve been a huge fan since I was a kid listening to my dad’s old 8 tracks. Genius songwriter. Will be drinking a beer for him tomorrow after work.

This one hurts.
Bad. May stay up all night playing his records and drinking whiskey.

Blow up your TV, throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own
Eat a lot of peaches......
