It's also brings transparency, but yeah I can see both sides of making that available.

How much more money hemorrhaging does the Advocate need to do for John Georges to go the frick away?

The only thing keeping The Advocate afloat is the revenue from TAXPAYERS thru the form of Govt subsidy, ie public notices.

State law requires all muni's to advertise public notices with Georges paper if they are in the delivery area (or something like that).

Millions in subsidy for them to shite all over people and continue the spiral of suck.

There could easily be a competing online service that does it for 1/100th of the cost that would have more reach than that sorry rag.

I stand by the theory that she had her girl start the effort and run it in the manner it has been run.

Means she can't have another recall done before the end of her term.

Yep. I knew the second the filed and that video by JD came out where they said they were hoping to release a plan within 2 weeks that this would be a gift to Latoya because the one and only legally allowed recall was dead the minute the filed the paperwork.

I'm not sure citizen voting was ever intented to be a transparent process.

There may some flaws with that. But look at how our politicians are lobbied / punished when their votes are public.

Do we really want that filtering down to the everyday citizen?

I always tell people... you have the right to vote... and you also have the right to not vote. Your choice.

Re transparency, of what possible use could The Advocate have for these potentially thousands of names? It doesn't take a conspirency mindset to come up with several reasons.

This move looks like it`s taken from a page out of Natsi Germany`s playbook. It makes even more people want to sign the recall of Destroya Can`tell

Needs to be signed before Feb. 23

Link to the recall if you need it:

Why would you think that? I have a buddy helping to collect signatures and he’s been met with hesitancy by city workers/business owners afraid of retribution.

I know multiple people that haven’t signed for this reason. These are people that either do business with the city or in the city.

What’s been so bad about the recall effort? I applaud them for even trying. The fact that they have to get more signatures than the amount of people that even voted tells you how this was gonna play out to begin with.

John George’s doesn’t care about the names. They’re trying to scare the final people from signing the petition - there are tons of people who think there will be retribution if they sign and it doesn’t pass

The covert money, the lack of a actual figurehead to lead the recall, the lack of organization at the beginning on what official recall pages look like, lack of a plan for the first few weeks.

Not sending the mailers until months into the campaign is another one, but because of how the money was funneled it makes more sense.

Well to start there's an strict and tight timeline to get the signatures required. The clock officially starts when they file the paperwork with the state.

They filed the paperwork and then revealed that they didn't actually have a plan, but would come up with something in the following weeks.

Then their first maybe official maybe unofficial signing events took place in some of the whitest and wealthiest parts of town. We can debate all day if something like that should matter, but in the real world optics matter. Everyone on earth knew Latoya and her crew would paint the effort as a racial issue of whites not being able to stand a black queen in power. The recall organizers played RIGHT into that narrative by going to uptown and lakeview before anywhere else.

Have no doubt someone will overlay the map of the city by demographic and recall signers.

Hope they also overlay with murder/crime map.
