And this is why the cuck Republicans should have blocked the Dim’s “spending” stimulus bill

There was plenty of money in the first one

A ton of churches took PPP funds, it’s easily accessible. In fact, that was one of the first things I looked up when the data was released. Locally, I know for sure the Catholic Churches & Jimmy Swag did.

We need to start taxing the frick out of churches.

This is a surprise. To this point, I'd always considered him a model of fiscal restraint.

Just remember, it's easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven.

Why shouldn’t he have taken the money? If he hadn’t, they would have all been laid off and had to go on unemployment anyway.

The PPD program was put into place to keep workers from being laid off because laid off workers are far more likely to never be brought back to work.

Every business should have taken this program. And charitable organizations still have to pay payroll taxes. If you work for a charity, it’s not like you can refuse to pay income taxes.

Very dumb post by original poster. I’m guessing an atheist or Biden voter

Osteen is a heretic but to call him a hypocrite would be inaccurate. He practices what he preaches and what he preaches is that God made him rich because his love for Him is genuine. I'm pretty sure that's what the prosperity gospel is. People who adhere to it believe God has rewarded their faith with material riches beyond their wildest dreams.

Regardless of whether you're a minister performing ministerial services as an employee, or a self-employed person, all of your earnings, including wages, offerings, and fees you receive are subject to income tax, only the church itself is tax exempt on money they retain for operations. I can assure you the IRS looks at operations like Osteen’s with a microscope.

No they don't. The IRS is underfunded, so they don't have the manpower to look at anyone of Osteen's stature with a microscope.

I see no hypocrisy in what he’s done.

Olsteen preaches the prosperity gospel. Making money is a big part of what he preaches

I also don’t think he qualifies as a tax exempt operation any more than a personal trainer or therapist

Didn’t the relief funding run out before a lot of small businesses could sort it out?

What a fricking charlatan this fricking snake oil salesman is. This mother fricker doesn’t pay taxes, is worth over 100 million dollars, and has his own private jet from his own constituency. Between not paying taxes and his private jet, why doesn’t he just sell the jet or think through he’s saved far more than 4.4 million dollars by not being taxed? Why doesn’t he take one for the team?

Between this and the Hurricane fiasco, could there not be a more obvious snake oil salesman? Please text this article to anyone who still listens to him. You don’t get a bailout check, but the guy who is worth over a hundred million dollars with a private jet and hasn’t had to pay taxes his entire life gets one. Not to mention most of the people who work for him probably do it voluntarily without pay. Plus I really doubt that mother fricker’s donations have gone down all that much since the vast majority of his “congregation” is over the television. This fricking sociopath would have no problem trying to weasel some poor sap out of the money they need to properly feed their kids. frick Joel Osteen!

Pretty fricking stupid.

First to think that large churches do not have people on the payroll from secretary to janitor to groundskeeper. Second, they pay payroll taxes. Third, the government shut down the churches.

But hey, let’s go after a mega preacher because he sold copiers to a different mega church that charged $4 dollars for a cup of coffee.

There’s been three different pictures of his “home” and not one is correct. But don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice place in river oaks.
