Union construction job, 1982. Borden Chemical in Geismar. I was the Office Manager. Payday was on Friday but if you asked me for your check early then you could get it on a Thursday. On one Thursday, this pipefitter went to the superintendent to get his check that day. I get called in to the superintendint's office and was asked it the pipefitter had made his request. I said no he had mad the request. PF said well I don't care, I want my check now. Superintendent said no, rules are rules. PF picks up the superintendent's hard hat, placed it on the floor, unzipped and pissed a large load into that hard hat. He got his check and ended up on the not for rehire list permanently.

I had a phlebotomist that brought a crab boil bag and started mealing on it at 10:30 am.
Medical director asked if she would keep the crab shells away from the phlebotomy equipment and she said,
“Sure but I’m jrunk”
Medical director said he could hear her slurping those shells for crab meat.
We let her go. She got a dui the next month.

I work construction. Specifically the electrical side.
I'm also IBEW.
I've lost count of the number of times I've told some piece of shite to get my money. I don't put to with any old bullshite.
Why would I? There is more work than anyone can handle right now. Decades of work.
frick you, I'll go to the next one (contractor).
And I'll break the bank with zero effort.

At an old job we had a guy quit on his very 1st day. He disappeared at lunch and never returned. We had to call the cops to get him to return the pressure washer he took with him.

I'm telling my boss on Monday morning that I have a new job. I work in IT and have been here the longest. I assume everyone will be cordial as I will have to do some knowledge transfer. But I will report if anything gets out of hand.

When I was younger I quit a second job.
He asked, "What's your last day?".
I replied, "Yesterday".

my second real job after my first degree was a Customer Service Rep for Blue Cross Blue Shield of MS. It was a piss-poor low paying job that I had the goal just to make it one year. my life was miserable that year. It was me, a white guy, and everyone else was a black woman and one black dude. anywho, we had to know the benefits of the federal employee program and quality control would listen in on our call and audit us. The black female near me and I got along pretty well because we would talk and she liked me. I started out slow which irritated some of the other women, but I learned the benefits slowly and became decently proficient. keep in mind, these people had been here for a while. I sat on the edge of the row so my only interactions were with the black lady near me. the rest of the people in my division disliked me for seemingly no reason. Any calls I was able to complete was one less call one of them had to take, but I could tell they weren't fans of me pretty quickly. months past with no issues, then i had my first quality control event where i was flagged for an inaccurate response. They would allow you to defend yourself and in this case, context is very important because out of context some of the answers could be interpreted as incorrect. well, i provided a retort and gave the reasoning for why my response to the callers question was not only correct, but should not be an error, to which ultimately QC agreed and dropped the infraction. well this starts happening more and more and the others around me start noticing how i keep getting off of these infractions. the frequency of these events skyrockets and I can tell ive got a target on my back, but I kind of enjoy the intricacies of it all and the defense aspect gives me something to focus on and i find a little enjoyment out of it in an otherwise insufferable environment.
long story short, one day, I did my classic defense and outlined that the cherry-picked thing I was flagged on was not incorrect and again i was exonerated. one of the black woman had enough of me defending myself and took my retort off the supervisors desk and made photocopies and demanded that I receive my infraction. again, this is a coworker, not a supervisor. I get wind of this and go to the HR building that was opposite the main building. I was kinda nervous and i had a pen in my hand and when I was explaining what had happened, the HR lady (young white woman), stopped me and said if you dont stop clicking your pen, I am going to get up and slap it out of your hand. I knew i was done at that moment.
I went home, typed up two resignation letters and detailed the idiocy, the hypocrisy, the environment that I was in, what was wrong with the department, what was wrong with what was happening, how hostile my work environment had become and in general, how i thought they were sick and evil people (denying benefits etc) and I detailed how HR threatened to assault me. I left a letter for my supervisor and gave a copy to the CEO's secretary with instructions to deliver it to him and I quit. It felt like dropping a couple of grenades in a crowded room and closing the doors behind me....it was a good feeling. Those people are not good people.

Boss of 15 years was a creeper big time.
Multiple receptionists would start at 8 and not come back for lunch.

My BIL got out of the service and decided he wanted to try long haul trucking. His second solo trip he got stuck on an iced up mountain road where he couldn't go forward or back without sliding. He hitched a ride down the mountain and Fedexed the keys back to the company.

Was paid for the day and had to collect my check from the owner's wife. When asked, told her what happened while the manager was ease dropping in the kitchen. Friend that was working there told me he was fired about an hour after I left so "he could not retaliate on me in the parking lot"

Another one: at a former job our janitor had the jduty of shredding documents. The commercial size shredder was always breaking down and generally a pain in the arse. He started just taking them out in the woods and burning them. Well somebody found a pile of partially burned documents. That was a firing. A shame, because he was a pretty good dude and a hard worker except for the shredding.

I just left my job of 6 years for a new one. I took a middling organization to levels they have never been to, but left before what could be the high point. It really doesn't bother me much because it was all smoke and mirrors. I won't miss being surrounded by a bunch of assholes anyway. Although it's not too far away, I'll have to get used to the new place quickly. They seem to just go out to the ditch and get food to eat, so I might stick with cold chicken tenders for now since I've developed a taste for them. I hope I don't mess this up, but even if I do, I'll make a lot of money.

Two friends from childhood get their first ever job on a construction site. Lead man is the absolute king of "richards." They make through the first couple days being berated constantly. Late on day 3 Lead man goes into the disgusting porta-jon & the two friends push it over on the door & haul arse.

My dad got me a summer job working for some rich crooked arse friend of his that sold mobile homes. My first day, I was sent with another kid and some tools to remove the tires from a mobile home.
We knocked on the door, showed the guy a contract and told the guy we were there to remove the tires because they belonged to the dealer. He said wait just a minute and came back with a shotgun and said to tell that lying SOB he can come over himself and read this here contract.
Quit before lunch.
