Bookkeeping services? Yeh it can do that.

Ai will eventually crush audit and low level tax jobs.
It pushes everything up to a review level job and just makes ones that can do planning and build relationships the best spot to be

First off, relax. Dont start talking about pulling out of 401ks and shite. Its like day 4.
Get your mental health under control number 1. Dont go and drink and get all fricked up that's not what I mean.
Get a plan together and start your job search.
There are jobs out there. You are not the first and wont be the last ever to be in this position. Take it as learning and move on.
Do not dwell in the past.

Hit up the big recruiting companies, they probably have a back log of openings right now. You can keep your eyes open to get into public accounting and get into the external audit side to help expand your experience. I know a few smaller local firms that are looking, pay will be on the lower side (definitely less than what lsupride quoted), but it's a check and new experience. Also with smaller firms, there won't be an eager rush to push you out the door if you don't go the CPA route as is the case with regional/national firms.

Hi all,
I was recently let go from my job as an internal auditor. Pretty shaken up about it as this is my first time experiencing something like this. I only have about 4 years of experience and most of it is at the senior level. The company said they were “going in a different direction” and “they didn’t see the need for my services going forward”. The company is a well respected public accounting firm.
Out of curiosity, what is the job market out there like for the industry. Don’t have a CPA, but I am currently pursing the CIA and hopefully the CISA after. I’m scared shiteless that it’ll be forever before I find anything given how things are going in this economy. Wife works but her income alone will not cut it. Have about 6 months saved up in emergency funds and about 6 more months if I pulled out of my 401k but obviously I don’t want to do that.
Appreciate any all insight or just anyone who wants to calm my nerves.
Where are you located?
IA work is in high demand. There are jobs all over the place, but especially larger towns like Houston or Atlanta.
You need to collect yourself, switch your linkedin to "open", and update your resume. You'll have interviews scheduled in no time. Meanwhile, enjoy a few weeks of working out or playing video games.

Have you honestly assessed the reason you got fired? Have you shared all the relevant details with the OT? Employer (big 4) don't just fire competent employees that are meeting expectations on whim. You should have some idea of why you were fired even if you don't want to face it.

EisnerAmper is looking for senior IA and Senior Assurance right now in Baton Rouge
Hancock Whitney is looking for IA seniors in NOLA
ETA: not trying to be an arse, but did you look around? Seems to be lots of jobs available. Even if that means jumping to external audit .

cybercoders.com. There's 1 posting for Internal Audit in New Orleans or you could just search for remote jobs.

You were employed by a CPA firm for 4 years as an internal auditor and in that time you didn't pursue becoming a CPA yourself?
Do you think that may have been part of the reason the firm went "in a different direction"?
Have you considered using the time you're between employers to binge study and take the CPA exam, especially if you plan on staying in the profession?

But if you want to get to manager in advisory you better have at least CIA.

We require our managers to have CISSP + either CIA or CISA (trending more to the latter) plus an additional cert in some respective area (CCSK, CIPP, etc.)

Your mindset is likely why you’re currently unemployed. You are support and a cost, albeit an important role.
My guess is you rubbed the wrong people the wrong way and got out of your lane in the auditing process.

I was about to suggest the same thing. Look into companies that are performing ISO assessments (27001, etc.).
Posted on 6/25/24 at 2:07 pm to Bunta
ISO 42001 is blowing up right now. He should get his IS 27001 lead auditor cert then get trained on 27017, 27018, 22301, and 42001.
