Boom. There's your solution for everyone bitching about being dragged to church today and tomorrow. Just go to a church where a Jesuit will be saying the mass. These dudes are like a nascar pit stop behind the pulpit. Most of them skip over all the non important steps. You'll be in and out in 45 minutes tops

For a holy day of obligation, that’s lightning round shite.

If 45 minutes isn't long enough for you, go home and pray the Liturgy of the Hours.

The little Red church in Destrhan had a 30 minute mass no hymns. It was nice.

I remember staying at a friends house often and going to a 7am mass at St Mathew in River Ridge. My friends family use to call it a “drive thru mass,” 30 minutes or so. Jesuit priest I can’t recall his name. This would have been late 90’s

I don’t know our Priest’s homily went like this:

quote:

“This evening before you go to bed, pray for wisdom, and in the morning when you wake up, pray for wisdom.”

We were out of there in under 50 minutes and there was standing room only from all the ChrEasters in their good jeans and Columbia PFG shirts.

Honestly, if your goal is to get in and out of mass as quickly as possible, why are you even going? You’re clearly not going for spiritual reasons - probably just some sense of obligation that you dread or to act superior to those who don’t go.

You know how quick mass was for me this morning? 0 minutes. Hallelujah.

Yes they do, never fortunate enough to have one at my church but I have attended services a few times where they said it. I always said, if more priests were like this, they would have greater attendance.

We had a priest at our church who would go on sometime for an hour and 20 minutes. Guy would put the church to sleep with his homilies they were so long and repetitive. He was transferred a year or so back.

That was Father McGinn from Jesuit High School. He would say mass at St. Matthew.

Same with St. Patrick's in downtown New Orleans. They have mass at 11:30 and Noon.

Just the weekly mass here is 1:15mins. Our priest loves to preach and visit throughout the congregation right before mass and then right near the end. It’s all good though.
