This is kind of dumb. They roll at 11. Just push them up to 8am and they would be over before the storms roll in.

This is the answer

Neither Argus or Elks are that big

Roll at 8, everyone off route by 1

Trial lawyers in this state caused everyone to be “overly cautious”

Ash Wednesday, probably not, but Saturday following is okay. It is not like there are no other parades during Lent. See Irish Italian parade in mid March or later depending on your area.

I’m assuming they will end up riding with the Irish / Italian parade.

I guess they could ride the Metairie road St. Patrick’s day parade, but that seems tough logistically.

How many of these Jefferson Parish Senior Officials and Employees will now be spotted enjoying Rex/Zulu?

Complete incompetence to not attempt to roll earlier and shorten the route.

I also love how the JP Officials dumped this 5 minutes after the last float rolled by their wasteful viewing stands in front of Lakeside so that local media couldn’t try to get a comment from them.

However, when the Parish makes any softball type feel good news stories the press release has to include quotes from like six different people taking credit.

Out of an abundance of caution everyone should wear a helmet at all times.

It'll be great watching all the truck riders on their way home riding in their floats in 45+ mph winds and rain after 3pm. Especially on the interstate and other highways

Yea people aren’t realizing the nightmare of the cleanup groups picking up shite in 40+ mph winds and all these half arse built truck floats breaking down and falling apart.

Wouldn’t be surprised if New Orleans only allows Rex & Zulu to roll and cancels the trucks.

There's a press conference at 9am to decide when to reschedule the parades...

Government employees hate working Mardi Gras as much as they love tasing a very large and mouthy black woman.

That’s cute. The JPSO loves all of the overtime they make for parades.
I think they should have just cancelled the trucks and let Argus roll early.
Someone earlier was correct that most of the truck riders get to and from the parade while riding on the trucks. Would indeed be a shitshow for them trying to get back to their home base.

Later this morning I expect Nola to for sure cancel their truck parade, but figure out a way for Zulu and Rex to roll.

If JP cancels and NOLA still rolls, then JP may as well cancel Mardi Gras for future years too because whats left of Metairie krewe membership will be looking to move to an uptown krewe

MG is already completely dead in Metairie

It’s what they want and are slowly building to it.

It wouldn’t shock me if they simply roll this weekend with the thinking they would get much better attendance. JP isn’t getting the tourists, just the locals. Move it to this Saturday or Sunday and be the only game in town is probably the thought. Can’t move it much further back bc the following weekend starts the St. Patrick’s Day parades.

Supposed to be wind gusts that can get towards 40-50 mph. Think it's safe for a float with that type of wind?

You don't have a press conference to decide, you have a press conference to announce.

reschedule to when? After Fat Tuesday?

Yeah let's just go throw down and party during Lent and completely disregard the entire premise of Mardi Gras.
