This type of crash is known by the motorcyclist community as a "left hook". It is the most deadly.

BTW How are the tacos from that permanent Taco Truck there at the gas station?

I pass it all the time, but haven't tried them yet. Curious as well.

The BR traffic grid is so frustrating that it makes people drive kinda crazy.

At what point do the residents of Baton Rouge stop blaming poor infrastructure and accept they're all idiots?

Good question. I propose a multi-million dollar study on this question first, then after several months of research, we'll do absolutely nothing.

At least it’s a lot cleaner than the last one...

I noticed they lowered the speed limit on Tiger Bend past Jefferson from 45 to 40 which is bullshite.

If so they should make that turn on arrow only.
This is really unnecessary, as there's not a ton of traffic that goes right there coming from the direction of Airline or from Jefferson either. All that would do is cause more traffic in the turn lane.

The solution to this is pay attention. I always see people pulling their phone out right there when they think they're just going to be sitting at a red light. So, instead of getting on the phone, or other things that may distract people, do what your vehicle is made for and pay attention and drive.

I know it's a crazy concept, to actually make people responsible for their own actions instead of putting more red lights (or editing them to make the wait longer), which isn't what Baton Rouge needs at all. We need less lights.

I saw that wreck this morning. At least the 3-4th one I've seen there in the last few months. Didn't look quite as bad as one of the others, but I shook my head and wondered how it happened based on the position of cara and crash impact locations.

Yea, I've seen a few there as I live by Shenandoah and go that way quite a bit.

Like I said though, it's usually because people get there and instead of paying attention, they start playing on their phones. Hell, I do it too, but I actually pay attention and look when I start moving and definitely before I make turn.

Baton Rouge already has way too many red lights, especially ones that are too close to each other and aren't synced. The last thing we need is more red lights or to change ones like that, that you can turn on green too, after a green arrow, just because people are idiots when they drive.

If OP had his way, BR traffic would be 10 times worse than it already is, bc wrecks happen often at lights like those. However, it's not bc of the lights, it's the drivers.

The tacos suck.

And I grew up when that was all 2 lanes with deep ditches. Two high school friends were killed there in separate accidents. It’s light years better than it was then.
