A robot dog does not shite, and piss. Vet bills which require immediate care are replaced with device repair shops. When you need to travel, you don’t need to pay for a pet sitter or a kennel - you just turn your dog off.
A robot dog with artificial intelligence could probably replicate the feedback humans receive to meet their need for companionship without the maintenance costs and nuisance of real dogs.
