Maybe better for money board. But could you even successfully liquidate that much stock at that price? At that volume would it crash the stock?

Maybe, maybe not, don't know, don't care. Cash it out, put it in other investments and sail my yacht around the world.

You can't believe in capitalism and also believe that. Some people will get extremely rich with the system we have. It's not perfect but it's better than any alternative.

Scott, an author by trade, became a billionaire following her 2019 divorce from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

This is completely false. She founded Amazon with Jeff Bezos and owned 50 percent of his assets prior to the divorce. She is actually worth less today than when she was married.

She was always worth just as much as Jeff Bezos. She’s not some gold digger who just came along. She was there before Day 1.

We agree, but once you limit the incentive to better yourself, you limit innovation and economic growth. At the end of the day, a free economy is the lesser of evils. The free market economy is responsible for the greatest wealth generation and smallest % of poor people in history.

that .8 is pretty deceptive since it equals to 800 million dollars

So Bill Lundbergh's stock can go up a quarter of a point.

Yep, and if she tried to sell it all, it wouldn’t be worth nearly $60b.

Call me crazy but I’d have a better life with $60 bil and an OT 3 with a nice body like she has then a broke arse 10.

$1 bil does a lot, $60 bil is an insane life.

I don’t think she can
Believe that since she owns so much she can only dump so much
And when it happens she has to schedule ahead of time
If it were 60b worth of stock, probably months ahead, and that most likely wouldn’t be approved

She’ll sell off small chunks at at time (like couple hundred million worth here and there)
Which they all do yearly

That same increased net worth though could be gone tomorrow. It isn’t liquid cash

Or it could increase. And it’s fairly liquid. She could sell it this week.

ETA: She could sell portions of it this week. It might take years to sell all of that without disrupting the share price.

I understand your feelings, but you have not thought through the consequences. If no one was allowed to be that rich, there would be no Amazon; there would be no internet, or computers or iphones. China and India would just be exotic places of rumors and mystery because the East India Company would never have existed. You would be washing clothes on a washboard in a river; and I would be plowing with oxen.

The left constantly wants to limit wealth by taxing productivity. What you tax you will have less of. It is not a good idea to discourage productivity. IMO, we should allow great producers to become fabulously rich. Their wealth is a drop in the bucket compared to our national wealth. I would like to see increases on inheritance taxes. What purpose does it serve that Jeff Bezos’ undeserving heirs should be filthy rich?

$15B of AMZN stock trades hands in a day. It could be liquidated over several weeks without serious consequences.
