Aren't you the helicopter mom that always post about your kid's wellbeing and everything else on the OT?

Apologize if I have you confused with someone else.

You've accused me of that yes; and I'm still denying it. Well, I mean I'm concerned of course about my kids well being but definitely not helicopter mom despite how you twisted my posts.

(fwiw my kids would tell you NO I'm not one; they handle their business. I asked for info on flights getting back on track after snowstorms and I asked about teachers losing tests to be exact.)

I thought I remembered my son telling me this last year when he took that but wasn't positive.

But Bosceaux I did have a great teacher for that way back when.

What was so wrong with his statement? I would imagine having a combined income of less than 100K(like he said) and paying for private school for two children plus mortgage, bills, and everything else....could at times be challenging.

Ok yeah, lol I thought it was you I gave shite

Of course there is always some hyperbole on the OT but also a little truth in everything.

And to answer your other question. I graduated HS in '00. Took it once it Jr year, scored a 24 and was satisfied. No prep or classes or books purchased.

you have to have it in that class b/c when you get to derivatives of trig concepts shite gets crazy in calc1, and i don't see how you can have a solid calc1 class without that knowledge base

Not when I took it. I went through my sons book and it's very similar to when I took it. 3/4 advanced algebra and 1/4 rudimentary trig. I've come to the realization our math program sucks arse In the early 2000s we had Calc via satellite but lost funding and never got it back.

I don't know if there were these requirements back then! My son was happy though when he made a 28 the first time ... all he was concerned with rather than the good score, was that he made 1 point better than his brother who was "Mr. Smart Guy" in high school. Whatever motivation works.

I have no idea how I even made good grades in math looking back. I HATED math classes but always somehow did ok in them.

Had to take a stats class for the first time couple months ago. All the equations gave me horrible flashbacks to HS math classes.

Hence why out of everything I took at LSU (organic, physics, etc...) Calc 1 was the beast that almost broke me. It was like a foreign language when I walked in that class.

Which is why he's being strongly encouraged by those who know to NOT go straight into calculus but to take college alb and college calc (109/110 at ULL). He hates the idea but I think that he's decided to do it. I assumed he would not go to summer school but he doesn't want to start behind. Good idea; just didn't think he'd want to go the route of summer school.

i took AP calculus at Barbe and then took Honors Calc at LSU to get 5 "free" honors hours. the flaw in that plan was a 730 or 800am class 5 days a week. 1st semester freshman year? not fun. i don't know how i did anything in those days b/c i never slept due to being an idiot

I enjoyed Algebra and Geometry but if I never see Calc again it will be too soon.

Hated algebra 1; teacher looked like Hitler. Trig was super easy. Thank goodness I needed no calc; my major now would require it. Blech.

Best way to scare people into accepting higher taxes? Attack the children

Next will be higher taxes that everyone will accept in hopes they restore tops

1501 was a monster. I told my son not too make the same mistake I did. Take trig (1022) I believe and then a pre-calc class before he takes 1501. Unless things have changed I believe 1501 is the last math he will have to take.
