@LouisianaGov
opens his weekly COVID-19 briefing by saying he's expanding the eligibility groups for vaccinations to include people 65 and older. Will take effect Monday.

About 250K people are in the 65-69 age group being added to Louisiana's eligibility groups. That brings the number of people eligible to more than 1.1M people out of Louisiana's 4.6M residents. #lalege #lagov

In total, with all first responders having access, along with election workers and some other state officials, that means about 275K people are newly eligible. #lalege #lagov

Number of vaccines available in Louisiana will be increasing next week. Will have about 14,000 doses from a federal program going straight to Walmart pharmacies, on top of 86,500 doses going to other pharmacies, clinics and hospitals. #lalege #lagov

says very nervous about the UK variant that is spreading in Louisiana. Total confirmed variant cases so far is 5, but another 20 are pending confirmation and Kanter says it's likely much more widespread. #lalege #lagov
