Elected officials should be the last to receive them.

Some pharmacies were in the weeds sure, we are giving out everything we get efficiently. We also didn’t get any new 1st doses this week for some reason.

I have a elderly family member who for whatever reason waited until early last week to get on the wait list with Ochsner for the vaccine. She's 78 and at in the at risk category.

Is there some other option I should tell her to go with to maybe get the vaccine sooner?

Unfortunately we are giving second doses only because the state slashed our supply. Keep checking daily to see if Ochsner opens up appointments on her MyOchsner account, you may need to help her with this (I will make a thread on this site when we reopen for 1st dose appointments)

Meanwhile, call all pharmacies in the area and get her in the waitlist. You may get lucky. Let me know if you have more questions and I will give my personal contact info to you and help as much as I can

My grandfather is in his 80s, had an appt with Ochsner, cancelled, now on a wait list. Why are they adding people to eligibility list when they are having trouble meeting the demand they currently have?

Depends on the facility, Ochsner shot its wad too early and did not plan or anticipate shortages for the 2nd dose.

Some hospitals are doing mass vaccination drive thrus. Terrebonne General in Houma has one set up and they are still taking appointments as of now.

They do them at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.

We are able to do 1,000 vaccines a day easy at our hospital locations. Instead, daddy govt loves to send these to pharmacies who are completely overwhelmed We could easily handle doing 20,000 a day system wide

I was told by someone today (50’s, health issues) that they signed up and got the first shot on Friday and were able to get scheduled almost immediately. They didn’t disclose the vax site location. They also said they were the only person there at the time and tons of appointment slots were available at this location. Obviously this is anecdotal, but I’m certain this person would have travelled to any location in the BR area to get the shot. Does this sound like an issue that is happening in only certain locations? Hospitals vs, Walgreens, etc? Demographics? I’m genuinely curious why I’m hearing some are having difficulty getting appts and some are able to walk right in and get vaccinated.

Bump. I’d really like LSUPride87’s feedback on the above post.

cracked up at the elected officials part for some reason

This is how you know the vaccine is safe.

Unless it’s a purge.

Anyone in need and waitlisted elsewhere needs to look at Walgreens. Pharmacies all over the state and times pop up all the time just search every 15 mins or so.

Go to Mississippi for the vaccine. I made an appointment two days ago and got my first shot yesterday. Anybody can get it.
