This is not always true. I know for a fact that not one of the prisons in the Louisiana State DOC system do this. They are general population and they have a rough life in there.
That being said, his case is very high profile and I'm pretty sure he'll be segregated. Probably won't do "hard time"at all, sadly.

I would imagine if it lasted four years they might have had some type of relationship. (guessing) If not then he thought she was also into the sick stuff fro m either experiences with her or her lieing to him about what she was "into". I am certain this isn't just a casual conversation between 2 friends and he brought the subject up. What he says and what he does had to proven for the prosecutors, hence the time delay.
