This lady contacted the FBI, and she "role-played" as Jared's friend for 5 years...So they let Jared continue to abuse kids for that whole time? Did they really need 5 years to get enough evidence? I just don't understand...

A recording of him saying he does it is plenty enough to obtain a search warrant for his computer. How else would he be finding these kids and others who do this sick shite

I don't think they should be segregated...why protect people who harm innocent children?
Problem is lawyers will sue if they don't provide protection for him.

Outside of a few selected circumstances, you have no expectation of privacy with regards to speaking with another person. Unless privileged (spouse, physician, attorney, clergy), there is no reasonable expectation the other person will keep the conversation secret and the recording serves to reinforce the other person's recollection of the communication.
Other states choose to impose an additional burden that you not record anyone without their consent. Obviously, law enforcement is not bound by that if they get a warrant. I think the thought process in those states is to discourage this type of covert recording, outside of a warranted, law enforcement situation.

Difficult to say what the actual, specific theory is and it varies to a certain degree from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Overall, it sounds in the right to privacy, on either side of the issue, whether it is a protection or exception to that protection. At least the way I understand it.
