I'm all for it! We should include a statue of Sherman and a Louisiana Tiger
We could get bids to erect the statues and then immediately have them moved.

I would like it named after a female who championed women's issues.

But I am a correct dickbag.

I am going to sit back and enjoy this. Ya boy Carville is the biggest turd you guys ever produced!

He used his considerable influence to help restart LSU after the war and donated books from his personal collection for the lbrary. LSU has several buildings named after Confederates. Most of them had no connection to the University. Sherman is at least an LSU man.
Support.

Sherman was a formidable foe to the South. He engaged in total warfare in an effort to bring the war to a quicker end. Was the March to the Sea much different than the fire bombing of Dresden, or the nuclear attack on Hiroshima or Nagasaki?
He was also the founding President of LSU. There absolutely should be something named after him at LSU.
This. The hypocrisy on these boards knows no bounds.
I would however, like to get Carville's take on whether the NOLA monuments should remain.

to make this more accurate, it should also state: "who was the first President of LSU and was a LSU supporter until he died"
let me ask a question, how many other universities in the former Confederate States had Army facilities donated to them when the Army left their area?
a historian the likes of T. Harry Williams who could teach the Civil War is sorely lacking...

Carville is just trolling the pro-statues crowd.
The statue lovers ask why blacks today are such pussies that they are upset about a reminder of someone who did something 100 years before they were born.
Carville is putting some of the statue-lovers in a pickle of themselves being upset because Sherman was a true leader at LSU but also triggers many of them because of things he did over 100 years ago.
As one poster said, his view of Sherman depends on whether he "burned your family's house down and looted their belongings."
Black folk might say that one's view of a Confederate hero on a statue is shaped by whether he owned your ancestors and made them work for free.

Good to see your idiocracy has crossed over from the Poli Board.

There is nothing named for Sherman on campus. I suspect things will remain that way for a long time.
I wax and wane on whether naming the military science building after him (full disclosure: I'm an Ole War Skule alumnus), or something appropriate like that. Maybe even the Civil War Center - but the parade grounds?
Carville is crazy.

I've said for quite a while that the Military/Aerospace Science building should be named Sherman-Chennault Hall...and Raphael Semmes Drive should be renamed General Robert Barrow Drive, change it from the commander of the CSS Alabama to a former Commandant of the Marine Corps who actually went to LSU!!!!!
but in total irreverence, I'd love to have a M-4 Medium as the Sherman Memorial Tank...(now let's see how many posters get the joke)

You realize there is a limit to characters used in a title?
Plus, how would I get everyone riled up if I wrote that? This is the OT. Facts be damned.

Sherman was the president of Lsu, and is an American war hero.
You can be butthurt, but he did what it took to win a war for America. War is hell and Sherman knew that. Truman knew that. MacArthur knew that
A bunch of pussy baws in here
