Do not want

Interesting point, one of (if not) the first people killed in the revolution was not white.

He used his considerable influence to help restart LSU after the war and donated books from his personal collection for the lbrary. LSU has several buildings named after Confederates. Most of them had no connection to the University. Sherman is at least an LSU man.
Don't forget about the Army giving the original Pentagon Barracks to LSU as well!!!!
I think it'd be more fun to have a M-4 Medium Tank as the Sherman Memorial Tank, but naming the parade grounds after him works!!!!!
Now I think Raphael Semmes Drive should be renamed, the guy commanded the CSS ALABAMA!!!!! Name it after General Robert Barrow, former Commandant of the Marine Corps and someone who WENT to LSU and maintained participation in the university community until he died.

Here's a pretty cool quote from Sherman:
i always like this one from Govneror Sam Houston:
quote:
Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South.

yep, modern day Texans gloss over that, and the fact Texans wanted to lynch him back then and tried to oust him from office

Ok, Sherman made the South want to quit. Love him or hate him, he waged WAR.

Do you consider the founding fathers to be traitors? They did rebel from the crown.
Rebels, sure. Rebels that won.
Rebels that lose are traitors and are lucky to not die.

true, war is not a sporting event, it's go for the jugular and no holds barred(except for VN,) but screw naming something here after him, and I'm not a Confederate battle flag waver, that shite needs to disappear too, throw the only folks in the US unable to have a heritage and acknowledge same, a bone

I get confused with TX history because they change it all the time, example, the Bible used to swear in a new governor is referred to as SH's Bible, absolutely no proof that it was, looks like it, from the era, etc., a year or two ago someone found some old furniture in a barn, hey! this looks like it could have been in the Alamo! straight to the Alamo and put on display as real, see something like that every year

This may make it more bearable seeing it trashed every Sunday morning after football games.
