The only part that seems overzealous is the "you can't evacuate more than 24 hours before the storm hits!!"

Having gone through Katrina I can assure you if the area is to the point of no power and no hot meals, Pizza Hut will be without power as well. If it's not bad enough to close Pizza Hut, then there will be hundreds of other places open as well as grocery stores.

If it's universally wide spread, then yeah.

If it is more your neighborhood however, you can easily drive.

And I've seen before places just get generators to run if the place isn't deserted from evacuees

I was just pointing out the laughable self-importance at the start of the memo. Pizza Hut is committed, the community needs and relies upon it. Not the McDonald's next door or the domino's, burger king, chik-fil-a, Wendy's, little Caesars, cracker barrel up the street. Pizza Hut.

i used to work at this place called steak out in high school. i took orders and prepared orders.

My mother was prengant with my now 17 year old sister. And I was a senior in high school and I had graduation.

I graduated on saturday at the end of may, they had to let me off work.

My sister wasn't due until the end of June but my mom called me on June 5th and told me she was going to deliever that day at about 6pm I had just got to work. I told my boss I was gone to go see my newborn little sister and they wouldn't let me off work because " I had just took off"

so I said frick you lol I quit bitch lol. What the frick you think I'm going to keep this high school job if it means missing the birth of my only sister? I mean frick stakeout ain't the busiest place on earth they could ahve covered the night and i could have made it up the next day or something ? You think I'm goinig to make up my mom having a baby?

the only time in my life i've been hosptialized overnight was for acid reflux it was so bad I was crying at the car dealership I was working at and they wouldn't even let me go to the ER to see what was wrong with me, I had to go on my lunch break, then had to have my mom bring a note from the doctor to my boss saying I was being admitted overnight. When I got back to work I was so pissed off I got my comission check and went to work for the dealership next door.

when you work in fast food and you are there all the time that becomes your world and you lose context.

My dad is store director for a grocery chain in Louisiana. He has always let his employees take off for events. Weddings, funerals, graduations, prom, whatever. He always let his employees enjoy their events, especially younger employees. That being said, he's had to discipline several of the managers under him for forcing employees to work through milestones. His deli manager once scheduled his senior high school workers the night of graduation. Well, graduation day comes and none of his seniors show up. He goes to my dad and bitches that none of his deli workers showed up for their shifts. Turns out my dad gave them the day off for graduation then fired the deli manager. That's not the only reason, but it's the straw that broke the camel's back. Life happens. You can't expect your workers to pick between their family and work, especially younger people.

ETA: In case of hurricanes, my dad stayed behind. Being store director of a grocery store makes you essential personnel. Someone's gotta let people get basic needs during recovery. His employees were expected to return at reasonable time unless they were absolutely devastated.

You can't be scheduled 24 hours before the 12 hour grace period.

So working backward:

Time zero: storm hits
t-12: grace period ensuring no one working during storm
t-36: If evacuating, you will not be on shift in this timeframe
t-37/52: depending on how your schedule works out, you will not work in this time period. So likely 2 days off prior to the storm to evacuate.

Depending on how the system is set up, you can call in sick to get another evac day.

That's what I was thinking.

1. We'll close before the storm
2. If you're evacuating, let us know
3. You can't use evacuation as an excuse to take a week off
4. Please be prepared and get supplies now, don't wait
5. You're expected to be at work unless you've evacuated
6. If you've evacuated, call us

None of that seems unreasonable.

Not a word of that is unreasonable. OP seems like a moron.

Steak Out in Arkansas must be totally different than the Steak Out we have in N. AL. Steak Out here is a delivery or carry-out establishment that sells actual steaks like ribeyes, sirloins, steak tips, grilled chicken, etc...and it fricking good!!! Nothing like fast food.

yeah right.. I know the first time I stop to eat when helping a friend or neighbor or even cleaning up in my own home after a storm is to order a pizza.

forget the fact that most people went out and bought food/water from the store before hand.

I worked there in the early 90's (when I was 19 or so), and the only thing fast food-ish about it was the uniforms, and the fact that it was delivery. We sold different cuts of steak, chicken, baked potatoes, etc. Steaks were grilled to order.

On a side note, I hated cleaning those huge iron grill grates. We had to use a razor blade to scrape them.
