I really don't understand idiots who don't think this shite out. The storm isn't permanent and this backlash is going to last a lot longer than the storm.

I gotta think Pizza Hut won't be firing "experienced" employees due to evacuation snafus.

You have to give some guidelines to employees or else you have no recourse.

I have a feeling many employees would tell the Pizza Hut to piss off and go to work at one of the other 20 chain pizza establishments

Doesn't really seem that egregious to me. They are trying to set expectations for what they need from their employees.

If they don't like it, then quit.

That would be over the top in SW Florida, but I don't see a problem in Jacksonville.

i used to work at this place called steak out in high school. i took orders and prepared orders.

My mother was prengant with my now 17 year old sister. And I was a senior in high school and I had graduation.

I graduated on saturday at the end of may, they had to let me off work.

My sister wasn't due until the end of June but my mom called me on June 5th and told me she was going to deliever that day at about 6pm I had just got to work. I told my boss I was gone to go see my newborn little sister and they wouldn't let me off work because " I had just took off"

so I said frick you lol I quit bitch lol. What the frick you think I'm going to keep this high school job if it means missing the birth of my only sister? I mean frick stakeout ain't the busiest place on earth they could ahve covered the night and i could have made it up the next day or something ? You think I'm goinig to make up my mom having a baby?

the only time in my life i've been hosptialized overnight was for acid reflux it was so bad I was crying at the car dealership I was working at and they wouldn't even let me go to the ER to see what was wrong with me, I had to go on my lunch break, then had to have my mom bring a note from the doctor to my boss saying I was being admitted overnight. When I got back to work I was so pissed off I got my comission check and went to work for the dealership next door.

when you work in fast food and you are there all the time that becomes your world and you lose context.

I don't really see the issue here, they aren't in key west or Miami

That's what I was thinking.

1. We'll close before the storm
2. If you're evacuating, let us know
3. You can't use evacuation as an excuse to take a week off
4. Please be prepared and get supplies now, don't wait
5. You're expected to be at work unless you've evacuated
6. If you've evacuated, call us

None of that seems unreasonable.

It's good to have order and know what's expected. Storms are inconveniences not vacations.

I guess I'm missing why this memo is out of line.

To be fair, that isn't Pizza Hut. It is the franchise owner.

Yeah, I didn't really read that as unreasonable. If you employ teenagers, you have to set expectations.
