Saw a rustled alligator below the spillway, warm too, about 65 degrees. For those who live on the southeast side of the lake are going to see more snakes and raccoon lizards this spring.

Anyone heard anything about El Charro? Popular Mexican restaurant on Lakeland before the bridge to Flowood. If worse comes to worse they are screwed. Maybe they are high enough but they are so close to the Pearl river.

prediction is that they get water in the parking lot at crest tomorrow....a few inches one way or another would be the difference for those folks.

Drove by the El charro today and it looked high enough to withstand the incoming flood waters. The jackson prep baseball fields are under water

Making preparations now for our Flowood branch to flood tomorrow.

Flowood Drive between I20 and Lakeland is unreal, we passed by there today and I feel for those folks. Several houses underwater. What area of Flowood is your work?

??THIS IS NOT A DRILL?? At 6pm the
@RossBarnettRez
will begin releasing water downstream to keep up w/intake from the Pearl River. Water levels will continue to rise over the next 12hrs. Residents in NE JXN in the flood zone, LEAVE NOW. Roads will become impassable by morning.

Not sure if this info has been posted.

, I've often noticed a large pipe (manhole?) sticking probably 10 feet out of the ground on the edge of the complex closest to the river. I assume the pipe provides access to the sewer system, and it is so far above the ground because that's the expected highwater mark from flooding.

I've seen this along HWY 165 in Monroe, near Sterlington. It really is crazy to see how high the water could get and for the manholes to be 10 feet above the ground.

Houses in rollingwood were taken on water this afternoon when I went through. N Canton Club circle flooded as well. Saw numerous streets and yards flooded. Won't take much for water to make it into houses.

I seem to remember the convention center being flooded as well as High Street at I-55, or was that 83?

I 55 flooded in 1979,this flood is pretty bad but not near as bad as 79,unless we get a ton of rain in the upper pearl basin.

I would Love it if the convention center was ruined and flooded. Then we could tear it down and build it where it should have been.

The State of Mississippi has no problem releasing flood waters and silt into the Sound when it’s own property and people are in harms way.

They sure get silty when we do it, though.

The Pearl River is a rounding error compared to the Mississippi River. The State of Mississippi is not releasing the Pearl into the Mississippi Sound, the Pearl is following it's natural flow pattern into Lake Borgne. The water release is from the Ross Barnett Reservoir, which has a limit of 299 feet. The water has to be released with no option The Pearl river naturally drains into Lake Borgne as it will continue to do so.

Furthermore, last year the Bonnie Carre' was open for 123 days at a discharge rate of 196,000 cubic feet per second. Compared to the Pearl River, it will be discharging less than 80,000 cubic feet per second for less than a week. 24 million cubic feet compared to 560,000 cubic feet. Like I said, rounding error.
