Saw him live last year. He definitely still brings it.

total left wing nut job
Most musicians and entertainers are. Listeners should be able to put that aside.
These are some of the lyrics from one of his songs, I am a patriot
quote:
And I ain't no communist
And I ain't no capitalist
And I ain't no socialist
And I ain't no imperialist
And I ain't no democrat
So I ain't no republican
I only know one party
And it is freedom
I am, I am, I am
I am a patriot
And I love my country
Because my county is all I know
quote:
I am, I am, I am I am a patriot
And I love my country
Because my county is all I know
quote:
And the river opens for the righteous (released from the cages)
And the river opens for the righteous
And the river opens for the righteous (released from directions)
And the river opens for the righteous

It’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt

Incorrect sir.

Yes. Looks like he did when he was younger and then finally gave it up because of the adverse impact on his life and family.

Gregg Allman did a great version of it on his first solo record also
That’s a great one. I also love Nico‘s version from way way back. There are also a few young artists that have covered it more recently.

“These days” was such a great and perfect song for greg allman.
Naked ride home and barricades of heaven are also great. I found the record that everyone is posting and bought it earlier this year. Don’t even have a record player lol. One of my favorite artists and would definitely go see him if he were nearby.

Yep.
Then he ends it with this.
“Don’t confront me with my failures; I had not forgotten them“. One of my favorite lines of any song.

Obviously the average age of this board must be 65+ now. The songs and people referenced are mostly older than my parents.

When I saw him about a year ago, the average age was probably about 45. Of course they were many older people, but also quite a few in their 20s and early 30s as well.
I am thinking only people who know him (sans one or two) are responding to this this thread. Probably not a reflection of the board’s average age as a hole.

Laurel Canyon is famous for its vibrant 1960s–70s music scene and as a home to many influential artists.
Notable residents and contributors
Joni Mitchell, Carole King, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Cass Elliot, and Graham Nash were among the singer-songwriters who lived and created there. Their homes and collaborations helped define the era’s folk-rock and singer-songwriter movement.

Well, he was 17 when he was running up 101 in 65.
