About 10 years ago. As a slalom skier, shite should be illegal. Or limited to certain lakes. There is no lake that can sustain 3-4 foot waves without doing damage to the shore line at a minimum and to boats/piers parked in it which is most people's actual concern.
Show me on the doll where the wakesurfer hurt you.
I've been wakeboarding for years but we like to get out and surf on days where the water isn't good or we just want something more laid back.

My other big gripe with wake morons is that they inevitably blast new country over loudspeakers. No one except other narcissistic tools want to hear a pop country song about “the swimmin’ hole” or “the lake”.

This is really spot on.

Its Boosie - Set it Off on my boat

Makes giant wakes that beat the shite out of boats that are docked and it also speeds up the erosion of lake and river banks. One of the worst things created .

There's no flip side to the argument. On a wake surf boat, you are putting your fun over the integrity of the whole lake.
I'm behind a boat 25-30 weekends a year, I deal with people at boat ramps and who live on lakes that bitch and moan when they see me pull up in my ski boat (which has a 6" wake) thinking I'm one of the wake monsters.
If you want to surf, go somewhere like old river where the trees and natural sloped banks can eat most of the wake. Sea walls and 3 foot wakes don't mix.

I greatly enjoy wakesurfing, but I also avoid doing it on Holidays weekends, and days when the lake is crowded. I know it’s a pain with the wakes that the boat throws, but I’m just too old now to wakeboard without blowing my knee out or something. When you fall on a wakesurf board, it doesn’t hurt at all!

Stfu nerd if I saw you on the water I'd spray the whole boat and laugh while you yelled at me in your affliction shirt

I wear a shirt because I don’t wanna get sunburned it’s not cuz I’m fat

I just paid a good bit last year to have a hell of a lot of rip rap out at base of my sea wall because of this, during the summer I’d say 1/2 of the boats on the lake where I live have those boats.

It was just becoming a thing around here in '06 which is when I got my first surf board. By '09 it had really taken off. It was probably 2014 or 15 that boats were being designed for surfing and now they are everywhere.
That said, don't surf behind anything that isn't a true inboard. I've seen the damage caused by people falling in the prop of an inboard/outboard. That's not something you want to see.

They are now making inboard/outboards with the prop on the bow side of the lower unit. That’s how popular it’s gotten. Crazy.
