I am sorry you're getting shite canned, ryno.

I agree. Fire them right before Christmas so they have all those gifts and family members to cheer them up.

I know a LOT of people who go get small loans, 1-2k around Christmas for gifts and then use their tax returns to pay the loan off. I personally wouldn't do it but to each his/her own.

Sorry you are getting fired Ryno. Maybe now your wife will move on to that younger model she has had her eye on. The good news is that this will decrease your monthly bills, right in time for your decrease in cash inflow.
Good luck.

Good luck.

My company has just given 200 employees the "relocation to a specific city decree" or take severance, or look for another available job outside of their current organization. Shitty Christmas for those unable to take retirement. Other available jobs? Phssssst. Backfilling in the target relo city will ensue.

Not really. Nobody hires or really does any hr function over the holidays, so the longer they wait, the easier it is to find a job.

Believe me there are many families that let it rip on Christmas with no thought to the enormous bill heading there way.
Then shouldn't this thread be about not running up credit card bills during this economy.
or maybe
Put money back throughout the year to use on Christmas instead of running up debt.
Looks to me that that is the problem.

Spending multiple grand on Christmas presents is insanity anyways.

We do. Its not that bad when you know how to make a budget and stick to the budget.
We put back about 3k throughout the year that is dedicated for the next Christmas.
We put 1-1.5k from tax returns + around 100-150 a month.
Same thing with our vacations. We take 2 per year but they are saved up from the year before.

Between a wife, kids, parents, etc it's not hard to get up there in cost. Hell, a SO and parents are expensive enough let alone kids.

I put all my Christmas gifts in the cc and have already paid it off.
Any a-hole who has the money to pay for the gifts immediately and doesn't get cc rewards for them doesn't know how to use a cc.

This thread brings this to my mind:

He said any a-hole that puts Christmas gifts on a cc deserves what they get.
Any a-hole that spends money they don't have on gifts would have been the correct thing to say. Broad brushes paint too big an area sometimes.
It was also questioned why anyone would use a cc for Christmas gifts. I answered that as well.

Is your family safe this year?
Posted on 12/19/15 at 11:33 am to Tiger Ryno
All good here, brother. My industry is thriving. We can't hire fast enough to keep up with all the work coming in.
You good?

Hopefully but you never can be sure right?

I suppose. I know nobody is getting fired at my employer unless they are just hopelessly bad at their job.
In the 13 years of my company's existence, nobody at my level or higher has been fired.
