Times have changed my friends. Most of us no longer need hunting dogs, or super energetic dogs, or dogs that can sniff out everything under the sun.

Most of us need dogs that are smart and easily trainable, lazy for the most part (not overly active), dont bark alot, cute (cause that's what the ladies like), and loving (want to cuddle, etc).

It's time we as mankind do again what we did so well in the first place! Selective breeding and man controlled evolution to create the perfect suburban house pet. Mans new best friend!

Join me in pushing for this motive. I'm not saying we need to get rid of existing breeds for those that want one of them... just create a new breed to fit our new needs.

In NYC about 15 months ago, I saw a biiiig old boy out with his owner. He was probably 180 lbs. She told me that he came from a geneticist/breeder in Oregon who was breeding large dogs for longevity, health, and temperament. Supposedly, these big baws typically live 15-18 years, are incredibly cute, and are great around other animals and people.

Unfortunately, they cost about 8k a piece.

Owning a 180 lb dog for 18 years seems like a bad joke.

That being said, not sure if I want to start a labradoodle or goldendoodle argument ITT

I like big dogs. If I didn't have my BC, I'd be all about a Dogo Argentino, Boerboel, or a Bernese.

Except Corgis. I'd totally have a ravenous pack of little Welsh bastards.

That’s a pug for the most part.

Mutts for the win.

I foster dogs and almost always the purer the breed, the more acute their "personalities" tend to be.
The more docile ones tend to be the more mutt-like ones.
They all bark, some more than others.
But, I do have some high energy mutts, too. YMMV

OP, you know a 57 will do what you want if you take the time and train them. Some people are always looking for a short cut.

That ignorant approach has already ruined several breeds through the years. Stick to what they were intended for.

My catahoulas are all these things, plus they can go out in the nastiest woods Louisiana has to offer and find and stop big bad hogs with ease.

My Sister (no pics) has a catahoula. Most laid back house dog ever. Put that fricker in a duck blind and he turns into a machine.
