This is not necessarily true. Your statement neglects the initial conditions of our planet being formed in the solar system.

It is possible to have a faster orbit regardless of distance from a mass if other forces are involved

That doesn't mean that they recorded or passed down a flood story. You said pretty much every country has a flood story, not "you can find evidence of a flood".
