America’s Navy is coming home to the Shreveport and Bossier City areas in 2018, one of only 14 cities selected to host a Navy Week this year.
Shreveport and Bossier City Navy Week is scheduled for October 29-November 4, 2018, coincident with the Louisiana State Fair and is designed to give area residents an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity. Navy plans to include the following elements in the week-long celebration:
- Navy Divers and Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams
- Navy Band musical performances
- The Navy Ceremonial Guard
- USS Constitution Sailors
- Sailors serving in the local area
- Bureau of Medicine
- Naval aviation
- Naval History and Heritage Command
- Visits to schools and youth organizations
- Community service projects and events with local organizations
- Visits with local veterans

little known Civil War trivia, there used to be a CSA submarine manufacturing base on the Red River in SHV, right on the point where Cross Bayou dumps into the Red, part of the original structure is still there

Just like I ask in Nola threads, are there a lot of tourist and everyday folks being gunned down there? I’m sure the answer is no

There’s a navy reserve unit based in Bossier City

First I've heard of it, though I did see that a Navy Band was going to toot some horns at the farmers market next Saturday.
ETA: Just noticed there are only 2 events on the linked Calendar of Events. One is the farmers market.
