That Gears of War commercial with the Gary Jules version is legit one of the best commercials of all time. And I say that dead seriously. It was an amazing piece of marketing and was one of the main reasons that game became so popular IMO.

Vastly improved by every statistical measure. Not only did it re-chart (which is tough for a re-make), it performed better on the charts than the original (the original made it as high as #3 on the UK charts and didn't chart at all in the US whereas the remake topped the UK charts for 3 consecutive weeks and reached 30 in the US). It's also the version most people remember.
Soooo... yeah. Vastly. Improved.
