It is amazing how much faith we have in our Uber/Lyft drivers.

Was thinking about this the other day while in one. I drive around all day seeing absolutely horrific driving and near-miss accidents as I bitch and moan about how nobody in this city can drive, yet I'll also gladly jump in a stranger's car who is likely one of the idiots I complain about and won't think twice about it.

It's kind of amazing how we blindly trust these people to get us somewhere safely.

Drivers have ratings right?

You’re assuming everyone uses Uber and Lyft. Some of us like S have professional drivers.

I've never had a "bad" ride in an Uber. All the drivers - although sometimes rather strange - have been excellent drivers. I think with the vetting (especially now), drivers can't get away with much which makes it an enjoyable situation for the passenger(s).

Getting into a stranger's car often while either exhausted or drunk......I'm surprised there aren't more issues.

I get them from the airport almost every week. They are probably safer than me driving myself after taking the late flight into Baton Rouge after a 12 hour workday.

I’ve defintely had rides when I thought my driver was terrible, and I don’t use Uber often at all.

In big cities, they always seem to be very capable drivers. The ones I come across in BR seem to be subpar at best. I always get some 25 year old Livingston baw who wants to jump in my convo.

BR has some shady drivers, but shockingly, the drivers who drove the worst were in the northeast. I haven't had any in BR whose driving scared me. They seem to drive especially slow and deliberate, almost to a fault.

You mean issues like sketchy shite done by the drivers to the passengers?

I heard someone on t.v. remark once that we were taught as kids to not get in strangers cars or meet strangers from the internet, but now we summon strangers from the internet and get into their cars.

You clearly don't live in a big city or don't use it much

The foreign drivers here are like speed racer.

I've used Uber probably 50 times and never had a problem. Sure beats a shitty cab in Nola.

I went to the ND v Clemson game last weekend and the African lady drove like 50 on I30 the entire way to Cowboys Stadium from uptown. There was almost 0 traffic.

Much the same here. Recently I had a couple of drivers, one Eastern Europe and one south east Asian.....they were aggressive drivers to say the least. I was using Uber and one of them switched over to the Lyft app to accept a ride when I was still a couple minutes away from my own destination.

My biggest gripe is Uber drivers can't follow the directions on the GPS in front of them. I can't count how many times a driver has missed an obvious turn.
