There’s only two possible explanations.
1) It never used to be this hot and climate change is real.
2) It always used to be this hot and I’ve just turned into a big pussy that needs to stay inside all the time.
It can’t be both.

ut I’m 42 and I just don’t think it was this hot when I was growing up.
I'm in my 50's and it was.
You're just soft now.
You used to play outside form sunup to sundown in the July and August heat and not complain a bit.
Now look at you.

This heat I just feels different, I don’t know if the government is doing this or what.
You are not going to see this on the news but here is probably why...
Supposedly, the Hunga Tonga-Hunga volcano that erupted in 2022 is the cause of this heat

We have that Volcano and El Nino drought playing into the heat. It would still be an extra crispy summer without climate change, which is estimated to be around 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

Just cause y’all keep repeating this doesn’t make it true

It also has something to do with a strong el nino.
Summer has been nice and cool. One of the coolest in memories.

the volcano is adding an estimated 0.06 degrees fahrenheit, hard to say it is THE CAUSE of the heat. I doubt you would notice a difference if it was 0.06 degrees cooler outside.

Water vapor is a powerful greenhouse gas, and the eruption may end up warming Earth’s surface by about 0.06 F (0.035 C), according to one estimate.

It is localized. Last week I was in KY where it was very nice and comfy. On the morning I left drivivg south it was 66 degs. I did not encounter a temp over 90 until I got to Brookhaven , MS and no it was not raining.

There is no denying it is a hot summer.
I don't understand why we need a thread everyday. What does it accomplish? I'm still getting outside 7 to 8 hours a week.

there is data that can be looked at pretty easily. record temperature for NOLA on this date is 100 degrees in 1951, which is also the forecast for today's high. so in that regard, ok...yeah it's been this hot here before, so not that crazy.
but - the average temperature for this date is 92 degrees. that means today's heat is 8 degrees over the average. i went back over the last couple weeks and 2023 set the record for heat on July 31st, August 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 10th. that is definitely an anomaly.
however - the other record setting years were all over the place, which would indicate that 2023 is just more of an outlier than proof of an ever-creeping increase in heat. admittedly though, i didnt go too far down the rabbit hole.
side note - i think it's ok to believe in "climate change" as a concept without buying into full-blown "man-made climate change" that we can supposedly solve by giving the government unlimited power.

Summers in the south are hot. Some extremely hot. Some not awful.
I remember I think it was 2007 or 2008, we had a stretch in August of like 20 something days in a row with temps over 90, with a bunch btw 95-100. That wasn’t even that long ago.

I remember it being this hot but not heat index wise. In 2010 or 11 Birmingham has like 18 days of 100 degree temps and the heat index was like 110. It's been 120ish every damn day

We're almost through it. It's been a mother fricker in Texas this year.

the OT Baws are literally dying to own the libs and deny any form of climate change.
It's hard to find a climate change denier. It's very easy to find people that aren't fooled by the reasons behind it, the reasons being given by the news media, "scientists", and democrat party that all recently told us that Covid wasn't man made, didn't come from China, Hunter's laptop isn't real, Biden just talked about the weather with Rosemont Seneca guys, etc....
We can keep going all day.
